32:9 aspect ratio

Why is there no aspect ratio beyond 21:9? To state that an ultra wide monitor provides any benefit over a better connection is categorically false. So if balancing hardware is the singular desire why not limit the frame rate to 30, the resolution to 5:4 360p: and force a global 80 ms of ping? Why have graphical options at all? Along side this other serious competitive games support a 32:9 aspect ratio such as Rainbow Six: Siege or CS:GO.

Overwatch in my opinion is one of the best team based multiplayer games ever developed with a massively engaging game play loop and back ground story arcs that I have loved engaging with. However to see issues like this is frankly ridiculous and in a game so inclusive it has surprised me to feel alienated from the game because of one arbitrary decision.

Sorry if this post was kinda long but I genuinely feel that this should be changed.

TL;DR there are no reasons to limit the aspect ratio available to those with the monitors to support it and to state a balance issue is an inherently hypocritical stance.

Why are you using a deformed monitor in the first place?

You must be new here.

Sorry if this post was kinda long

My comment is longer than your post >_>

to state a balance issue is an inherently hypocritical stance

Judging by the state of the balance that seems like a perfectly reasonable explanation for this choice.

hi, to begin with the monitor i use is purely my choice.

I’ve been playing Overwatch since around launch but university and other commitments got in the way so I’ve been away for quite some time.

That is wholly irrelevant…

And I’ve realised a mistake in that last part I meant to say that to state that an increased aspect ratio is an unfair advantage but to state that you don’t support a global 30fps limit is hypocritical.

Overwatch doesn’t support 21:9 properly.

21:9 aspect ratio support or wider would have very little effect on balance. Increasing the FOV is an extremely negligible advantage unless you’re at point blank range.
