A Few Questions About ToS (Smurfs)

Hello all!

So I have a couple of question about the ToS on Overwatch so I don’t do anything stupid without knowing and get banned.
Let me give you some backstory first: I’m around ~3100sr and I want to play with my friend, and he’s around ~1700sr. So as you can see there’s 1400sr gap which is too large.

So i’m thinking about buying a smurf and there are the questions.

  • Is Smurfing Allowed?
  • Is there a way I can play with my friend without “boosting” him
  • Can I get banned for trolling? (As I can’t tryhard without boosting)

I’ve read some posts about smurfs but they’re quite old so I just want to check in so it’s all correct.
Thanks for all answers!

Edit: Just to clarify, I do not enjoy Quick Play because everyone just picks dps and end of game. I’ve already played some with him and it’s not enjoyable.

From what i know you can smurf.
Im not to sure about the “boosting” part thou.
I don’t think its boosting because as a team you will hit your own MMR soon.

I recommend that you post this question here:

Its completely fine to do it. Disgraceful but within the rules.

TBH i don’t believe that boosting is bad unless you are getting pay’d.
They are a ton of boosted players in high rank. That got carried one way or another.

See it as a chance to play characters you’re not good at to improve.

a) Play heroes you’re not that good with.
b) Don’t play competitive. QP is a half decent choice, but 3v3 Elims or 4v4 DM can really benefit from a coordinated duo. Mystery Heroes is always great with diverging skill levels because generally people don’t get that mad at bad players (you just get the “this team is so bad” on a loss^^), except for obvious missplays like feeding 1 by 1 - which is easily avoided by you telling your friend not to do it.^^
c) Play in a fashion that helps your friend get better - i.e. pick for example Ana and aside from keeping an eye on everyone’s health and all, look at your friends behaviour - is he selecting the correct targets, is he positioning correctly, etc. Spend the death timer telling him what he did well and what he did wrong. Obviously it depends on your friendship how critical you can and should be, but that was what I did when I played with my best friend. Be a coach, it’ll make you a better player to reflect upon stuff.^^
d) Don’t pocket each other. If you pocket him, he won’t learn, if he pockets you, he’ll adopt bad habits. Also, you will make 4 people really, really mad that way.

Playing heroes you are not good in rank is by far the worst thing someone can do lol.
Like you guys go off on rants on how low rank sucks and that Reaper is OPOP and now your telling people to play stuff that they can’t in rank? And that will better low rank how? This ideology is to much for me.

Just smurf and curb stomp until you two hit a MMR or an SR that lets you play competitively. It won’t take more then 20 games as well.
Playing stuff you can’t and trowing by doing so is the worst problems in smurfs, not only will you delay yourself but you will make noobs mad and basically force them to come to the forums and cry…

Not to mention that you don’t learn heroes in low ranks… because low rank and high rank play completely differently… The best you’ll get from their is bad habits.

haha are you kidding. Yes, smurfs manipulate their SR so what, they’ll never do anything against them.
