A plea for dealing with leavers. Losing interest in the game

And that’s fine, but it should really be kept within the realm of reality. Especially when you claim that there is no issue waiting 10 mins for a game. I agree to this, and that is why it’s frustrating to wait almost twice as long as that, just because there are last second leavers, and nothing in rectifying them for this terrible behavior.

It was used as a metaphor, and it seems painfully obvious that you missed the moral of the story I was getting at. Try reading it again maybe.

this almost never happens. OT contests happen, but 2 mins? nah. Try more like 20-30 seconds. It’s much more close to reality. And if they can’t stand the OT clutch-fights, then honestly, it would be better of them to stay afk in spawn for the remainder of the OT-bar going down, rather than leave and put someone else in their already lost game.

It doesn’t matter what they want, especially if they put this on a completely different player who has already been sitting in queue for 10 mins already. If they queue up, and they stay there until OT, then stay until OT is done. Failing to do so is a despicable act of unsolicited selfishness that should be abhorred by every single player. It’s not “fine” that they are so selfish that they step on others time and patience for their own dopamine-depraved minds need to find a new match. Siding with the leavers in this scenario means that you don’t condone this type of behavior, and that this is how “it should be”. Power to the individual instead of power to the majority. It’s quite backwards and baffling to see you defend those types of people.

Ofcourse it would, how can you even argue against it? Nobody WANTS to be punished, so naturally they will follow the rules set to avoid this. And if they don’t care about the rules, well, then they choose to get punished then. That’s good enough reason for most. That’s what my metaphor was all about earlier, it’s about following the rules. And if you don’t, then you have to accept the repercussions. It’s not complicated at all, I don’t understand why you have such a hard time understanding this.

The only logical reason I can think of, is if you are actually one of these leavers yourself, and you feel entitled to step on other people’s time in order to satisfy yourself in your entertainment. And if that’s the case, and you feel it’s unfair that you would get punished from this system I have been proposing, well then, guess how the people getting stepped on feel like when all they want to do is play the game. Karma is a… female dog… You get the drift.

If I did leave late. Which I have done.

I have also left immeditate to dodge and map or mode.

I have also left in the middle when i couldnt be bothered anymore.

It is irrelevant. I have no problem with you thinking this is such an issue you have to write 15 books about it on here over multiple days. That is fine.

I am again unnecessarily giving people account actions for such minor events that are borderline inconsequential.

That kind of draconian approach all sounds grand, but when does it stop.

People will cry for the next minor thing to be punished.

Coming from someone that lives on the forum trolling 24/7, I find this hysterical. Agonath just tries to get through to that head of yours since logical words simply bypass you so he tried a more detailed approach. He speaks sense, which you always disagree on. Who’d want to queue for 10 minutes to joining a instant loss match and then having to wait another 5/8 minutes for another. So I see where he’s coming from. But ofcourse, Mr Nightwing, the Overwatch champion knows everything about the game so no-one elses opinions matter. Deluded.

I have never disagreed that that isn’t ideal.

But his idea for a non descript punishment is draconian and illogical.

But you swoop in like the white troll Knight if you want.

This guy is on my friends list, I’m sure we can have a private conversation if there were issues.

Aww you made a friend, how cute.

Yeah. Its not that difficult. And can helpful when making teams to play with.

(The irony of your reply while complaining about “trolling” wasn’t lost either)

They dont… I have reached “max lvl” and I rarely back fill… Just stay in the queue, dont leave when the match has ended = almost no back fill…

And these leaves I have 0 issues with. This is why I am in favor of backfill in the first place.

Wolfex summarized this pretty well in his comment. If you didn’t ignore what I was writing, I wouldn’t have to write 15 books to explain to you.

Then why reply as if isn’t a problem at all, when it clearly is ruining the experience for most people? If you said this when the topic was about this in the first place, you would be contributing to the topic in a productive way. If you would think that it’s a good thing that this happens, I would expect to see some arguments for NOT changing this. But simply implying that people should not care about this is not productive at all.

It’s VERY logical, and not as draconian as you might think. Punishing people for ruining others experience is not a bad thing. It’s meant to deter bad behaviour from continuing happening. And making them wait longer in queue is hardly a severe punishment, especially when they can easily avoid it. A draconian solution would be to ban their account if they left the match. That is what “severe” would be in this situation. And that would just be ridiculous. Nobody is saying that they should be harsly or severely punished. They should be deterred from leaving, by giving them a choice.

Hardly an argument for anything, as it was obviously to give access to my stats if you wanted to see them, as the website that gives stats is lacking when it comes to seeing specific stats.

It is death match. I didn’t realise anyone played that outside of while queuing.

That mode needs many changes to make it playable.

Yep. Otherwise you’ll keep falling back to silver.

That’s literally what I was talking about in my start post and further on.

I don’t think stopping people leaving is the fix, it has back fill. Just no one ques to play it.

I think the fundamental rule set for the mode makes it a poor mode. Just my opinion.

Oh yeah because obviously I’d be the problem out of 5 other players. :') Bless you xx

You are the single common denominator in all your matches.

But what do I know I was silver and climbed out.

Oh good for you, you must have had some good team mates.

Solo que. So same RNG as everyone else. I just learnt a few tricks to adapt and work it in my favour.
