Account suspension for doing what is right?

You informing the other user was report was really unnecessary.

You have the right to report them, though if you tell them you have then they can take it up as you being offensive towards them.
For them their behaviour might seem normal, note that T-bagging is a form of taunting which is not sexual at all within gaming. If you think that isn’t true then most would think you’re either a snowflake or new to gaming.

As previous users have mentioned “Intercourse” isn’t an inappropriate word, so technically that report would also be a false report.

You didn’t do what was right, you just said you reported his behaviour was bad despite it being quite normal within the gaming community.
If you got suspended then it means you got counter reported, you literally did what the community disliked. You can report, just stay silent about doing it though.

And this, so hard this. If you feel offended by something, it’s your good right and no one has any business with whatever you feel offended about, even if it’s minor. But when you report, do it silently, you are just opening yourself up for even more abuse, and in this case, reports against you which came back to bite you.

Also in your posting style here (I’ve remembered you from another t-bagging post a while ago), you complain about people being toxic and having no common decency, while you’re actually the one being far more rude. As I’ve said in that other thread, toxicity to me is general behaviour, not just random words or acts someone might find offensively. By that definition, you’re far more toxic than people t-bagging or having mildly sexual names.

But again, it’s your right to feel offended, just report silently next time.

Just to be clear. So, I’m a moral authoritarian snowflake troll. Ok, cool I’m glad we cleard that up. Thank you guyz. I think my identity crisis is literally over. Cheers.
And that is correct. I shouldn’t tell people when i report them. This is accurate. I made a mistake. I won’t try to be transparent anymore since it seems people dont deserve it.

Thank you for the passive aggressiveness.

I’ll extend an olive branch: on a basic level, we agree, but I think you’re just taking it way over the top.

In these forums, I’m constantly pointing out how reporting others for bad behaviour is not being a sensitive snowflake. I’m a firm believer in taking responsibility for your own actions: if people act like morons towards others in an online environment, even a competitive like this one, they should be able to face the consequences of being sanctioned for that.

There is some genuine toxicity in every gaming community - bullying, racism, misogyny, … - and I try to stand up to that. And sometimes it’s an uphill battle. Then overly political correctness posts like these about an occasional T-bag just annoy me. It’s just feeding ammunition to the “anti-report” crew labeling people who stand up to toxicity as “snowflakes” by confirming their stereotypical thinking.

Of course on a totally different level, but I can compare this somewhat with canceling a certain Fawlty Towers episode or Little Britain just because of the entire BLM movement. These kind of reactions completely devaluate what that movement stands for.

OP im just gonna use the 4 G for this post
Good God Get a Grip

its not even a question being a snowflake or not (i myself hate this term) but you are clearly soft skinned and oversensitive.
If you were outraged by racist tag, sexist slur or insults about your sexual orientation i would understand why you are angry but seriously just for a t-bag and a gamertag who indeed means something sexual (but is still a proper world nothing crude or vulgar) ?!

You really need to let those things not reach you cause you’ll get t-bagged EVERYWHERE.
Also don’t try to argue with people telling them “im report you cause you are doing bad things” No one like people who feel the need to rub their self-righteousness on their face and that’s basically backfired to you by being counter-reported

You see a t-bag and you really don’t like that ? You ignore, you mute, you report and you carry on

End of the story

See, this is why nobody takes the report system seriously now, its no wonder blizzard automated it.,
It must be packed full of frivolous reports.
TBagging is not a reportable reason. You can argue its unsportsmanlike but not worthy of a report

I love how you quote two words of my post while you probably didn’t read it correctly nor entirely

The issue is not if a tbag is a reportable reason the issue is that OP should not make a scene in chat and instead just ignore and report silently if they face a bad behavior. Then if they really can’t stand tbagging and if they feel the need to report well who am i to stop them ?

Also please no one took the report system seriously in the first place and it was automated since the beginning (we all remember the people who got banned for playing Torbjorn or Symmetra during the first year).

the report system does work, ive received numerous replies from blizzard after reporting cheaters and such. but if you really want to report someone you cant be half assed about it. for instance. I played against a plat widow yesterday, the only shots she hit were head shots, she was obviously smurfing or hacking. after the game I went and watched the replay, and lo and behold she was clearly soft aim locking, given away after it kept tracking a tracer after she died, I then reported the replay, specifically stating that the widow player called … was aim locking. I then went back and reported the specific account for cheating. I then received a message a few hours later saying that action had been taken against the account. im starting to wonder if blizzard have a track record for who’s reports where actually correct and who’s were false cause im done this probably around about 11-12 times and 90% of the time I received confirmation of action being taken

I haven’t given this much thought, but I wouldn’t be surprised myself.

In any case, reports with a clear message what the player has done wrong in your view, I do believe they get more attention. It sounds logical that reports without specific messages tend to stay longer in the automated system.

I also try to include reasons in every report I do. And same for me, seeing a lot of people claim that reports don’t do anything and they never get a message, but I get those “thank you” messages regularly.

yeah, I only just thought about it keeping a record of successful reports recently, I doubt it’d be to hard to do. but I defenitly see too many people just report and not put any sort of detail into it. imagine receiving a message against a player for something in a general area, like gameplay sabotage and having to figure it out. if the player specifically says what they did it makes it easier. and those messages saying action has been taking feel so nice for some reason

I suspect those reports get ignored and left to the automated system, where action will be taken when the player gets enough reports.

Although part of me thinks it’s naive, I like to believe - and Blizzard is stating so, blue post from Jeff somewhere - that the automated system merely flags players when they have a certain number of reports, and that automatic bans never happen.
