AFK players in competitive

Not only am I have to deal with Leavers in my matches. I am now having to deal with AFK players.

When will Blizzard fix matchmaking, stop griefers/AFK players reaching competitive?

How are we meant to rank up when we’re matched with players that leave/go AFK?

It’s way more common towards the end of the season because people just stop caring. At least that’s what it feels like, but that can’t be said for the enemy team.

It hasn’t happened as often to be fair as we’re nearing the end of the season for me.
But it’s certainly still an ongoing issue.

Update: This has just happened again.

It got so bad for me that I’ve decided to take a break from competitive. I was climbing to masters on tank, got unlucky with afk and throwers so just decided to take a break. I went from diamond 1 to 2. It sucks.

Taking a break is always a good idea if there’s a wave of derankers in your games.
They’ll be gone soon anyway, either because they’re reported or because they managed to derank.

That was my thought too, so I’m waiting for maybe a few more days to do competitive. I know the new season drops later today so I’m not sure whether I want to do competitive for a few days because in my experience the start of the season is bad too.

I wouldn’t play comp for a few days after the season changes either. There’s going to be a small influx of players because junkenstein will be back in the arcade, so it’s possible that there will be some server instability.

There usually is when there’s a seasonal gamemode after all.

I play on console and the player base seems relatively small, I run into a lot of the same players. In terms of arcade sometimes I can be waiting for almost 5 minutes for games. But yes whenever there’s an update that requires an actual download I try to avoid playing competitive in case the servers are unstable.

it kind of depends on what arcade you want to play, the no limits one tend to fill up quickly but other arcades wich are just a specific ffa map tend to take forever yeah.

But for sure you see alot of the same names come by even just in quickplay and arcade. I can imagine its especially more so for competative

With the implementation of penalties at unranked, there will be more players trying to lose on purpose with AFK in the future than there are now.

Still continuing to be an issue.
Blizzard have really gone out of their way to ruin the game as much as possible before MS integrates it.

It’s not really within blizzard’s control whether people afk or not.
Something should be done about it, yes.
But it’s impossible to predict that someone will be afk in that precise match.

It really is in their ability to investigate, and resolve. Reporting it here so one day it might get reviewed.

It is not impossible to predict if you analyse player data. If they’re consistent leavers then take action. Ban them/force them into a leavers queue where they have to prove over 20 matches let’s say that they’re ready to rejoin the main queue.

They could null the result of the match and set them back 5x losses for leaving… or other ideas detailed above.

It’s in their ability.
