Age restriction

I love overwatch and how it is a team based game, but the toxicity is killing it for me. especially with young kids that play the game. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t forbid them for playing it ( although it has a age restriction). But I think it is a good idea to seperate the kids from the adults. I hate those screaming bastards and would like to play with people I can acctually have a decent conversation with. So please make this age restriction a thing, I’m sure I am not the only one that wants this.

There are more toxic adults than kids. An age restriction would solve only 10% of the toxicity problem.

That’s 10% less you’d have to worry about ^

How about we make an inverted age restrticion where no adults are allowed to play the game. That would solve 90% of the toxicity problem. Sounds stupid but hey, we would have less toxicity then.

The main problem is this: You can’t divide toxic people into groups and erradicate one of those groups. You would only eliminate the symptoms but not the disease. Age restrictions just “to eliminate toxicity” is an extremely biased opinion and won’t solve the toxicity problem at all.

But on the other hand tho, from those adults, say 20% is toxic. from the children ( at least that is my experience) 100% is toxic. There would not really be a downside if you would only play with 18+

Anecdotal arguments won’t help you in this case. You are demanding an age restriction yet you give no evidence, no data and no proof.

Your argument stays your opinion, just like mine, and since there is no proof that children cause real disturbances in the playerbase, an age restriction isn’t necessary.

Separating the people is no issue. There can be leagues/comps where your age is determined via your battlenet account birth date and you get queued with similar age groups ^

What about young players who behave like adults and adult players who act like children? Do those children have to suffer while those child-like adults annoy the other players?

Sadly, no solution is otherwise perfect. Perhaps if that happens, OP will tear his hair out and realise it doesn’t matter lol

There is a perfect solution. It’s been right on your nose without you actually noticed it.

The main problem is that you have no control over your teammate selection. However, there is a tool that allows you exactly that: LFG.

If you think children ruin you gameplay experience, just create a group where only adults are allowed.

“thejohn001” im actually kind of getting mad, you are saying that 100% of the kids playing this game is toxic. Every game I play it is the adults being toxic towards me and my friends for our “squeaky voices” we get angry and fire back with some insults and we end up getting bullied for the rest of the game and being called toxic and then they end up throwing the game just because were kids. Stop blaming the kids 90% of all toxicity comes from adults and you are brainwashed if you think 100% of all kids are toxic.

I actually have completely forgotten about that. Use LFG OP

Then you might be the exeption but you should also know that Im not hating on people because they have a so said squeaky voice. But if youre going to scream over the mic ( which happens to me all the time) Im done with kids. I haven’t met a single ‘kid’ that can behave like a normal human being. Perhaps I am being one sided but I just really really hate kids.

were do you get the 10% from? im willing to say you pulled that one out of your hoohaa

Exactly, it was merely a number of demonstration. My arguments is completely anecdotal (just like the OP’s one) where I noticed that most toxic players I’ve met are adults or at least they sound like them. This is Why I believe that only a small portion of the “toxic community” are actual kids.

completely agree. Allowing a game 12+ was the most idiotic decision ever. But what would you expect from greedy Blizzard otherwise. For a number of reasons OW was probably the last Blizzard game I purchased.

Expecting games with similar sr, mmr, age, nationality, language, at best with the same job and salary. I wish i had such problems.

I can expect that some ppl don’t like to play with younger players. I hate loud noise too.

But it’s not in anybodys interest since you have the tools:
Use lfg and tell them to say something. If you don’t want to hear that voice - tell him and kick him.

Sounds for me you solo join qp and expect only ppl like your age. Which won’t happen until we devide elos not anymore on sr/mmr instead we use age and maturity to define thier place in the ranks.

We can’t expect age and more to be visible as we’re going in the private profiles aka privacy.

I do agree that this system is better, although there is one problem. It was very popular when introduced, but after a while the hype decait. It takes so long to find a group and to find a game that it is not worth it for me. I want to play a quick match. The free time I have to play I would rather not spend waiting.

You either want a quick half-4ssed match or you want a quality match that takes time to create. You can create a quick, half-4ssed illustration or you can create a great illustration that takes time to be finished.

A better matchmaking would result in a longer matchmaking so, in the end, you would need to wait as long as if you use the LFG feature.

I Don’t know if you have ever used LFG but my experience with it is pretty bad. Cause when I do finnaly get into a game with a group, 9/10 times it is a bad group. Communication is required but no one talkes. Everyone going in by themselves and the trolls… Dont get me started on the trolls…

Age restriction might indeed not help the full problem. I just want to play a normal gold game with people that are gold and we are evenly matched. Is that too much to ask for? Because apparently it is
