As a suggestion, put LFG back into game. It was one of a few actually fun things that existed in the game. The game seems to have become already dissociative, mute and antisocial. Only people so far who have spoken in game, are some crazy/tilted jerks, who either flame everyone or talk in 3rd person pretending to be us (team) flaming them (himself).
Also this way was much better and faster to “vibe check”. If some jerk/not suitable one joined, got kicked right there and now.
Rogue suggestion, if you wanted one… Try finding a Discord server with like minded people. They will be better than anything and LFG system could throw up.
They should really take a leaf out of other competitive shooters and break away from “Group” chat - either players are muted or in Team Chat. Overwatch is like you say:
Pity really, back in the day you’d regularly get VC. Now though, it’s very rare.
Especially after they had the bright idea to hide playing on NA from EU behind hacking your own IP and using a VPN for 10+ bucks more a month to have access to voice communication with a bad ping actually pathetic…
True, though oddly I just had a good game previously where the whole team were using comms.
Now time to go into another thats going to be dead quiet - again, lol.
There are ranked modes, it isn’t a competitive game though, there is no competitive integrity, that was lost long long ago.
Don’t play quick play, its boring. Only play ranked, and it is a casual mode. The game is marketed for casual players now, hence the monetisation, BP and stuff. It is just a fun game with some shiny cosmetics for people to waste money on.
They had to do something to generate revenue to be able to keep the game “Fresh” which they failed to achieve for the original OW.
Apex/Pubg/CS/Dota/LoL for instance are fairly old but have maintained/increased their playerbase by generating creating new stuff + generating revenues.
I still count it as competitive, but how the rankings work is a step back. They also need to tweak the matchmaking which they’re making pretty clear on their comms at the moment.
They did. And I totally agree with the path they’ve taken (pricing is another debate I can’t be bothered with because I dont buy skins). But the “competitive” era of OW died years ago.
It is now just a casual game with a ranked ladder. And that is fine. Best way to enjoy the game, stop being so sweaty about competition. Just play for fun, and stop when it stops being fun. You’ll probably find you improve more and climb as a by-product of not “sweating the small stuff”.
If you spend your whole time worrying about matchmaking (lol), the colour of your badge, and all that nonsense, you will just effect your mentals and tilt yourself. No need for it to be that way.
As for comms, I completely agree they can be utterly game changing. But the pings work really well and save a lot of dramas and allow people to play chill and communicate.
They did ruin what was a top class game. I still like it though, it just unfortunately badly managed.
Fairs, you carry on with that thought process.
Depends on the person. Many people are not weak.
I’m fairly strong so a game does not affect me mentally/tilt me.
I’ve got a couple of employees who are fairly on the weak side. I’ve offered them a level of support/help and they know they have my support - but that’s not game related, maybe they’re not a fan of the workplace
Yep, the comms can really help the team, and ofc make it more fun.
Changed would be fact
Ruined is opinion (I personally think it’s better)
The casual thought process is the way forward, and the proof will always be in the pudding as they say. I’m winning more, enjoying it more and probably climbing but I’ve stopped looking.
