are we missing the logic of 6v6? Let’s celebrate the history of ow1 with a similar arcade mode.
are we missing a very old version of symmetra, mercy, orisa etc? Let’s propose them in an anniversary event mode.
do we miss hearing the ow1 day one experience of 2016? boom, a mode with only the original 21 heroes and maps present in May 2016 (ow1’s debut).
I don’t understand why not focus on the timeline that the game had rather than just offering a series of playable events every year. it would make it much more celebratory and curious for new gamers who don’t know how to play before, mitigating a bit the exaggerated nostalgia effect of the game (but let’s be clear, I still agree that we have moved forward on some things).
All good ideas, probably a bit too close to the anniversary now to impliment any of this for this year.
If the team starts planning and coding now, we might get those for 2025 (bureucracy is what slows down projects the most).
Playable events are fun too, and an “original mode” with only the debut maps and heroes is also a playable event mode if implemented.
A good question for this mode would be if it would have the heroes in their modern iteration, or original form.
It would be quite a mess in it’s original form as people flounder about and try to figure out what’s happening, but also offer the stark contrast on what things have changed for the better.
It would take a long time of coding and testing while still being a buggy mess on release, but it could be fun.
Having the modern abilities on the og heroes would be easier for the team to impliment, but wouldn’t differ very much from what we play now. It would just be regular game with a limited hero and map pool.
(Personally i just want the archives pve missions back for anniversary. The team is just scared to compare how popular that would be compared to the “pve missions” launch.)
Because that would make them realise OW1 was far superior to OW2 and people will only want that game back
