I feel like every game I’ve played for the last 2 seasons is just pure, who can spam abilities the most. It feels almost as if Overwatch has lost their grip on what you need to be good at a video game. Aim and Gamesense are the biggest factors to get good at 90% of games. But in Ow2 I feel like the devs got lost somewhere along the way and decided that abilities are the biggest factor if not the only factor that decides if you’re good or not. If you take a look at Apex Legends for example, another game with characters that have different abilities. It’s biggest “skillfactors” are Aim and gamesense not how good the characters abilities are. Rainbow 6 Siege another game with different characters who each have unique abilities and there the “skillfactors” are still aim and gamesense. I feel like ow2 needs to stop designing abilities to kill the enemy and instead to aid you in killing the enemy. Take this new character for example, I personally find her completely broken because it’s just ability spam. I don’t really know… Ow2 just feels kind off and I’m wondering if anyone else feels the same? or have any other ideas to why?
I think OW2 tries to add more diversity to it’s gameplay. U can be a good OW2 player even if you don’t know how to properly aim with heroes like Moira, Rein, Junkrat, (Mercy)…
I don’t think so, it really depends on the hero, honestly aim based heroes like Cassady, Soj, Widow etc… are quite strong those 2 last seasons, since last hitbox changes.
I consider OW2 as an hybrid of FPS and MOBA games, for me there is no problem in it, is kinda fun. Maybe if u prefer FPS games u have problem in using abilities, if u prefer MOBA games u may struggle aiming.
Lets not let a recently released hero judge all the game, you also have other heroes that mainly rely in aim like Widow, Ashe, Cassidy… In a rooster of 40 heroes, it should not be easy to balance
I don’t have that feeling, I like all kind of games (RPG, Strategy) with preference for FPS. For me this is one of the funniest PVP games games doing to the diversity. Today I can play a aim based hero like Widow, tomorrow I’ll play Rein…
OW2 was the right direction. They just haven’t quite nailed exactly what they want it to be yet.
The second sentence should never be uttered near a pvp fps game.
The main issue I’m adressing is the ability spamming, And the meta for a while has been dive so even if the aim based heroes are strong. You get 20x more value from just spamming your abilities as sombra.
Ok… I mean it is an fps game.
I mean when the recently released character is stronger and more forgiving than every other character it kind of does. Aim characters are just a waste pick. I know it is not easy to balance but maybe it would help if the devs actually play tested the game.
And that is good, I am happy someone is still enjoying it. When i started playing Overwatch, aim characters was dominating the game and i completely fell in love with it. I almost only play fps games so that could be it. I guess I’m just sad that ow2 is not Overwatch anymore. I personally don’t know for how long I’m going to keep playing it but I hope people like you keep the game alive!
Why. These heroes also require aim and track like anyone else.
As I said this is more than a simply FPS game.
Heroes like that add more diversity to the game and brings different kinds of players who never played FPS.
I think that was the case the last 3 heroes that were released too… they were too op and got nerfed with time. Same seems happening with Venture.
Cassidy is actually a really strong counter to sombra, tracer and venture. All three are so called “spam heroes”.
He can shut down any and all movement abilities in the game and landing headshots is much easier than it used to be.
High aim requirement heroes are still the ones picked more at higher ranks because they are easier to be consistent with than projectile heroes.
There were times when both character types were more even, but for a good while now the hitscan heroes have been much more popular and easier to get value with.
I just wish they would nail everything straight away I guess. Ow1 Just felt way more complete even if it wasn’t.
Don’t know if u are a PC player but Valorant may be the game u are looking for. I tried it, but still prefer OW2, the diversity in this gameplay is insane.
That’s the dream.
But it’s a live service game. It’s essentially the industries excuse to release an incomplete game, heavily monitise it and add stuff as they go along.
OW2 started in the wrong direction and never turned to the right one in my opinion.
First of all the change from 6v6 to 5v5. In my opinion the worst decision they ever made. Second, the incredible bad monatization. Putting stuff behind a paywall with stupid prices. Of course they never get the balancing right and they never will.
But… that’s my opinion…
You will never please everyone with the whole 5v5/6v6 nonsence.
But what I will say is the Marvel Rivals closed alpha (which I’ve played), has shown that that game needs to go role queue and 5v5 fast. 6v6 is just too much visual clutter and no role queue means a lot of games will be lost in spawn. (Probably OW1 suffered from in the past)
You can’t ever please everyone. True. But I’m not alone with the 6v6 vs 5v5. I guess you like 5v5 more, I liked 6v6 more. Opinions differ.
true. most of the surveys done had it close to 50/50 split with the bigger surveys having 5v5 edging it.
For OW? I preferred to play in 6v6, but I think 5v5 is fine.
Marvel Rivals just really needs 5v5. And shows how badly visual clutter can ruin a game.
I haven’t played Marvel Rivals yet. I heard its not first person but third person? And that you can also destroy the environment… ?
Yep and Yep.
The 3rd person is fine, a little jarring at first if you’ve just be playing OW.
The destructible environment sounds great on paper. But the game is a visual cluster fu… and it just unnecessarily adds to the mess.
Game is fun, if you don’t take it serious or care about balance or “fair” matches. If you want to take it a little more seriously, it is horrible. Needs role lock asap too.
The direction is fine, but there are some things they are doing to please people from MMOs or something that are quite ridiculous, aka Invulnerabilities on CD.
They got lost when they released overwatch 2.
Got lost, or it just wasn’t for you?
I felt this way from when they first announced OW2. Removing the tank synergy and making the game lower skill has not improved the game for me. Given the bad decisions that were made and the defects that were introduced into the game from the start, it suggests to me that the management are no where near the quality/competence that Overwatch had.
