Ashe Update: FPS and Launch

Every time a new hero update comes out, my frames randomly drop by 30. As a player with an old computer, it is almost unplayable. That is the reason why I didn’t play last Christmas update.

Here we go again, a new hero, Ashe. I really want to play with my friends, but I can’t because of, again, the FPS problem. What is exactly is the cause of the frame dropping, and how do I fix it instead of waiting for another patch?

A new patch is up, and it seems to be a hotfix. I read the hotfixes and there’s 3 of them, one of them is an ‘AMD Bug Fix’ which made me excited and made me think that this might be a fix to the FPS bug because I have an AMD driver. I launch the game, and everything just got worse. From launching it perfectly fine and getting lower FPS to not being able to launch the game smoothly and just gave me lower frames. I have to keep the game at 50% render scale just to play it smoothly, but it will randomly drop to 40 frames during a duel or a teamfight.

Blizzard please fix this, I want to be able to play the game smoothly just like before, and the FPS is just pissing me off already.

Greetings AbdulJhabbar,

poor performance can be caused by a lot of different things. You’ve mentioned that your computer is fairly old. Does it meet the minimum system requirements for Overwatch?

If so, let’s see if these steps can help:

Pachimari

Yes it does, I am able to run the game at 60-70 fps at low settings and 75% render scale, which I guess is pretty good for a 7 year old laptop. It’s the first time that my FPS has gone very very low because of an update. When a big update hits, my frames will usually be lower than normal, then it will come back after the next patch or two. But my frames this update is just unplayable. I don’t want to wait for another patch just to be able to play again.

Hello AbdulJhabbar,

Please, take a look at the article about performance issues linked by Pachimari, and follow all the steps (don’t forget the advanced troubleshooting).
