you can’t argue with them, they base their avoid list opinions on things themselves experience as working for them.
it’s the “if it’s good for the goose, it’s good for the gander” sort of argument.
in other words, play like them and you will have the same enjoyable experience.
but that’s not what makes the game enjoyable to everybody.
i agree the community is really toxic and anti-cooperative.
however i believe that trying to weed out bad players like throwers or anti-cooperative people with avoid slots aren’t gonna work since there is just too many of them.
but i also do think that trying to force picks and compositions on people in ranked is toxic, that’s a choice that’s free to them even though it might be “soft throwing” but that’s really why this game is frustrating because some compositions are just simply better or easier to utilize and you can’t really go too hard on people to force them into it or you will just make them throw or be un-cooperative out of it.
so you have to pretty much ignore what everyone else is picking or choosing to play and just be suggestive and positive like make strat calls for example “can someone help me kill this tracer in the backline” and hope for the best and do what you can do.
because a well thought out plan is laid to waste by 1 weak link and there’s no point in even trying to go that far with a team you’ve just met.
as for what the avoid slots could be used for in reality is just really for high rank people who wish to avoid certain people because they do have a lot smaller of a player pool and they see them on a regular basis.
in essence it’s made for pro players who get stream sniped by like 1 or 2 people.
so for everyone else it’s just a useless tool, because the player pool is too big and too toxic in general to make a difference even if you had 1000 avoid slots.
why they don’t make more avoid slots is because they don’t want to mess with the matchmaker to function any worse, so it’s not like they can just add more avoid slots to please people either.
so what can you do about the people you don’t wanna play with again? absolutly nothing but most of the time the people you play with you won’t be playing with again, and if it’s really bad you can just report them and move on.
that’s really it.
