Bad Matchmaking maybe because my friend

Hello, I am mainly a qp guy but I’ve been playing with my friend who is diamond/plat but also he has 2000 hours on just Moira and ever since I played matches with him my solo qp games have become unbearable. I swear im playing against people who treat qp like its OWWC but at the same time that im getting very tough enemies, my team is apparently stacked with people who are seemingly new at the game just getting fed into the wood chipper. I myself am not that great but I am certainly not good enough to solo carry my teams. Is there anything I can do about my matchmaking that isnt getting a new account?

Welcome to OW my friend if youre looking for a better player experience play lethal company just not on your own or in a public loby get 3/4 friends 2 works but id stay in discord or somh in that case <3

Matchmaking hasn’t been good since OW2 in my opinion.

I think smurf accounts have made the game this way.

Your fault for playing with a Moira main.

I’ve had another story in that department - friend who is completely new to the game visited me, we created a new account for him, and … he got practically the same difficulty of matches in QP right from the start as I did (my QP games are usually comparable to around diamond or masters level). He was slaughtered in 7 games in a row and then quit.

I was quite abashed by this as I expected a new account to get match-make’d into gentle games…

I thought that too.
Until I created an account to play quick play with someone new to OW. And that is a new account I used to play probably 5 games of QP before my friend had enough of the dodgy matchmaking.

Surely new players should be placed against new/VERY LOW players?

I feel like overwatch matchmaking just matches 10 people together, and shuffles them into 2 teams of 5 fully randomly, making ways to stack one team with low ranks and the other with high ranks/mmrs…

Instead of trying to match each team to be somewhat close to the other one.

I tried to get a friend to play OW2, he uses brand new account, and on my team ill have about 2-3 new players at times more, while the other will be stacked with veterans honor level 5 players(obvisusely no one new to the game on their side)

Match making only used your MMR number. It doesn’t factor time played.

So the event you described is possible. But coincidental.

If I was those older players, I’d be annoyed id not improved and moved my MMR away from new players by now.

Playing that long and still being rated similar to new players… That’s embarrassing.

It cant feel that way. It’s nothing like it used to be in OW.

If I was Blizzard that mis-ranked new players, and matched new players vs seasoned players, I would be annoyed that I did not improve the matchmaker over all these years. That is embarrasing.

Good job you aren’t then, as you’d be annoyed at the wrong thing.

Indeed. I’d be annoyed with the pay instead.

Fair. According to the internet Blizz don’t pay that well compared to others. They get a very mid rating on that.

Roku is right, you simply suck. But he sucks as well so dont worry. You gotta cover the lake.

L2P tbh!

I am pretty bad at the game. Couldnt stay in GM for long sadly.
