Bad matchmaking

fix the matchmaking, its terrible.
I came back after a 3 month break which I decided to take because I lost a bunch of times in a row and I wasn’t enjoying the game anymore. When I came back the matchmaking felt fine at first, but after a few weeks, it became terrible again. The better you are and the harder you work, the crappier your team mates will be and the enemy team will always have way better teammates than you do. This is an absolute certainty. Because they need matchemaking to be fast the only way they can build balanced teams quickly is by making it so that its “generally” balanced based on how generally good you are as an overwatch player. Not everyone is at the same level so they will put a gold with 5 bronzes and then an nme team with a mix of golds and silvers.

This feels terrible, and makes very swingy matches where you either run over the other team or they run over you. Please let us opt into a system where I would rather wait longer, even a lot longer for a game that feels fair with everyone being at the same skill level than what we have now.

Last weekend I lost 10 games in a row, I chalked it up to chance and played off and on during the week, It got better, then this weekend happened and I lost 10 in a row again. Im sorry, but Im done, this is terrible matchmaking. Institute a roll queue, have an option for slow but consistent matchmaking, and have there be an option that will quickly show stats by hovering over names for your allies that show average hit% or heal%.

Im uninstalling again, this games matchmaker makes everything unfun, and encourages tilting way too much. Also get rid of the obnoxious defeat screen, the whole post game is obnoxious if you lost, I dont need to be reminded I lost over and over again with buzzers, and bells and whistles showing how terribly we did.

Are we talking about QP or ranked? In ranked you shouldn’t have big SR gaps like you’re talking about and in QP, well, it’s not that big of a problem since both teams have the same level roughly.

So you can call players out for not having good enough stats, nah that’s why Blizz allows players to have private profiles.

As for you matchmaker issue, try playing with friends who you can queue up with or use the Find Group option, then you solve your problem.

Could be about both QP and ranked tbh. In ranked you meet so many smurfs the match becomes a crapfest of uneven skills where you stomp or get stomped, same as QP I assume.

They won’t do squat. You can come back half year later and it will be the same. This is just how Blizz does things, they make great games then dedicate some small team on minimum budget to maintain them over long time period. They are pbly already looking over some new project than OW and yes both comp and QP matchmaking is dogees…

If you just soloQ and do your best over and over the game will match you with completely worthless team mates who don’t care about objective or doing something useful, they are just leechers, expect someone to carry the game for them. As long as there is at least 2-3 people who good in the team and care about the obj this might works but with less doesn’t matter what you pick or what you do you will lose. Even if you a widow god and able to aimbot down half of their team from distance with 4 throwers on your side they can just go bunk and you lose. It’s impossible to win this game for the team with 1-2 ppl working on winning on your side. I hope jeff is going to eat out of a trashcan one day.

to much crap in the kettle…

smurfs, trolls, noobs, throwers, etc.

1 way to fix this is to lose SR based on idividual performance… have 3 DPS? ok the worst one will lose a LOT of SR and the first will receive more (or lose less/nothing)

now most of the time you are lucky if half your team knows how to work together and hope the enemy has equaly bad players.

aaaand it’s an event… now most people who don’t play the game join in on ranked games, throw for easy matches and XP… but blizzard doesn’t care for this… you can’t report people for intentionaly playing like crap… or going a 4 DPS team against a bastion feeding like crazy…

the game is making it to easy to manipulate other people their game… and blizz doesn’t do anything about it (they rather have the throwers running the game then doing it theirselves)

It has been 3 years, they couldn’t fix it, they don’t have capable people in the development stuff anymore. So don’t expect it to be fixed anymore.

Well, looks like I was wrong, for some reason I keep getting people 300sr below me today, 1 W 3 L so far because of them instalocking dps and feeding, you’d think people in high master / GM have an idea on how to play the game but no.

I want add that u should be matched up with same endorsement lvl players as urself. I have found out that the most toxic/bad behaviouring players are usually lvl1-2 endorsments. I dont want these in my team! Im lvl 4 myself and i dont see any other “benefit” to endorsment other than a few extra loot boxes here and there… Reward good behaviouring players better! Bliz i know u can do something about this. I dont care if the q time is longer i just want good games!

Also by having seasons in this game just sets some ppl up for deranking on purpose so they can dominate lower sr players start next season. Just remove seasons all together! I just cannot play close to end of season because of this. Some really wierd stuff happends in the game and you look at some fellow duo/trio group players that have been almost 1000sr higher peak. When questioning them if they are deranking on purpose then quickly they put their profile on private and wont say a word. This has happend to me a few times now!

I’m at 10 losses in a row now, always one troll, one guy pretending his keyboard is dead, one suiciding, etc. It’s soooooo frustrating to lose 200sr like that for no reason.

Edit: Finally won one, I think today I reported easily 30 people, hadn’t had such a bad day on OW in a really long time, and it’s the only day of the season where I decide to play on my main account, hopefully I’ll climb back in not too long.

rip u. gitgud. 20 chars.

That’s what I intend to do, thank you for your concern. Today the trolls were in my team, tomorrow they may be in the enemy team, and if I still lose games I wasn’t ready for GM and I need to improve even more.

good for you. we are happy that you are doing things so useful for human kind and making the world a better place.

Gotta do my part after Earth Day!

let me tell you that… this game is rigged and only a little players allowed to be in higher rank… i asked in this forum if anyone can find a better stats than mine with orisa and till now no one find in overbuff and i still in high platinum… my little advice is dont play the best way you can or the matchmaking system will punish you with the worst players possible

I completely understand where you’re coming from. Matchmaking is bad.

It’s become common knowledge that you’ll run into matches with one of two choices:

  1. You get steamrolled
  2. You steamroll your opponents.

This isn’t just a mere joke or fanciful exaggeration. The matches are rarely “fair” in that regard.

There’s one thing you must remember about the matchmaking system.

  1. Jeff Kaplan (no longer with Blizzard), has admitted that you are corralled into matches with a “50/50% chance of winning.”

Think about that. I’m no pessimist, but that means you will definitely fail half your matches, and that’s by design. Unless your PVPTwitch or Seagul levels of good, you’re going to lose more than you win. That’s just a statistical and admitted fact.

  1. The matchmaking in Overwatch will never be changed. I hate to say it, but Blizzard’s algorithmic anomaly known as the “MMR rating,” will always be a mystery…again, by design.

On another note, what rank are you in? I used to be high Platinum, but after leaving the game for over 2 years, I decided to come back and was placed in low Gold, only to lose consecutively until I was in high Silver. LOL!!!

That is nothing to do with “match making”. That is playing a game that requires team work and coordination being played by players with a solo mindset who are also massively inconsistent.

steam rolls happen all other the game because people make mistakes, or position badly or so on.

“corralled into matches with a 50/50 chance of winning”… you saying you think it is forced? That is exceptionally naïve. If you have 2 teams of similar skill, of course your chance of winning is 50/50… that is good match making.
