Whose idea was it to add it in game? I think it’s a really bad time to use a sound effect like that. The sound can really trigger flashbacks for people and make them scared for their lives. I haven’t been through a war but my fear for war has been present all of my life and especially now seeing all the horrific things happening around the world. I can imagine that sound being even more triggering for real trauma survivors.
Pls make the game a little more fun by changing the sound effect into something that doesn’t cause someone to have a trauma response every time they hear an enemy bastion ult…

It is very similar to a real air raid signal. I hear one every month when my country tests the warning system.
It can be more triggering than some gunpowder sounds that you hear every new years.

if you’ve heard a gun shot in real life then the air raid is less threatening and as such less triggering, but the gun shots might be triggering and if that’s the case why would you sit down in a game full of sounds of explosions and gun sounds.
and on that note, there’s a thing in psychology that’s called exposure therapy, to explain lightly what it entails, well it’s as much as you could imagine, you expose yourself to the things that triggers you in order to learn to deal with them.
it’s all in the realm of cognitive behavioral therapy.
but not everyone might know about it if they’ve never needed to do that sort of thing out of necessity before.
and as such i can tell you from experience, avoidance behaviour will only leave you cornered and put into such a small space by your own will that you can’t function properly eventually because avoidance of one thing leads to avoidance of other things.
so if you’ve ever talked to a therapist they will tell you to expose yourself to your fears in as safe of an environment you can be in, and what’s safer than being infront of your own computer?
either way, to ask to remove it would be to remove something that shouldn’t be removed even if people would want to out of fear.
most people have fear of heights aswell, should we remove elevations in the game too?
ofcourse not, it’s actually a useful tool to deal with the things we fear the most in the safest space possible.
I feel like if this is bothering you then the rest of the game will bring up traumas as well, with all the explosions and gunfire and all. Just turn off some sound options if you dislike them tht much, i dont think most players are waiting for ults and gun noices to be replaced with the squeeking of clown shoes and circus music.
Its the same when someone is arachnophobic, Just dont play games with spiders in them.

The sounds of gunshots and explosions don’t bother me because I rarely hear them in my life, but the sound of the Bastion siren is very similar to the siren here in Ukraine and in my region it has sounded 321 times in 2022. So I just leave the match if the enemy team picks Bastion. Was looking for how to turn off this sound and came across this thread

I don’t like the sounds in this game in general. OW1 had way better sounds. Talk about going backwards.

The change really wasn’t needed. They should at least put in a revert sound change in the options for the people that prefer the original sounds.
