Bastion's Problem At Low Ranks

At lower ranks bastion is ridiculously powerful and almost impossible to get round with no team coordination (i.e. all comp teams in bronze, silver and most of gold) this means that games, with a bastion on the opposing team, will end the moment he is seen as people from your team can’t be bothered and his damage output with a mercy pocket is mad : the only realistic way to kill him is to have a bastion of your own. This ruins the game for others as you are forced to play around the bastion on your team just to be in with a shot of winning.

The only other way to kill him, that i have found, is to farm pulse bomb and stick him. Though after this you have to kill him again as he has just been resed by the mercy. This process is ongoing through the game and you cant get anywhere quickly.

The Bastion problem at lower ranks is worst on 2cp maps as he can have massive sight lines and he is sat almost on top of his spawn so it is impossible to get to him.

At my SR (high silver/low gold) i seem to be finding a bastion one trick almost every other game, which is starting to put me off comp all together. When there is no Bastion, the game is great and and makes me realise this game as a whole is brilliant but many aspects of it are floored.

I would like to know what you think about Bastion, his possible place in the downfall of GOATS comp, and whether he should be nerfed / buffed.

And this is why low ranked people should stay in the lower ranks.

Most ults can get bastion out of position and your team will kill him. Just pick reaper(wraith form behind his turret form then headshot him twice, it surely kills him) or go sombra (stealth from behind and hack his shield, he is useless without any.) You can take bastion down in many ways by yourself, he doesn’t need any change IMO.

Yes this is doable with Sombra but it is hard when he has a mercy pocket you don’t know who to hack/kill first. And with Reaper if you waste wraith trying to get to him you will be killed instantly by their team and the Bastion will just get resed (if you do kill him). On the ults thing very few move Bastion from where he is and most offensive ults require follow-up from your team which, as I said, is hard to get in lower ranks.

I’ve made countless Bastions switch off using Sombra.
Sneak behind it, get a Hack off and fill it full of bullets. (If you’re feeling particularly spiteful, head to it’s spawn and keep doing it so it doesn’t get to play. Serves the player right for attempting the cheese.)
It’s one of the most annoying heroes in the game to play against, but it’s not impossible to kill.
I do find it annoying that Sombra is the only certified counter to it though, and if it’s being pocketed by a Mercy/Rein combo even Sombra doesn’t always work.
We need either more nerfs to him (in particular to his Ironclad trait) or more buffs to his counters (like Pharah or Reaper).
(The issue is people think Bastion’s high dps is the problem. It isn’t: it’s survivability while in Sentry Mode is the problem.)

How is Reaper of all people a bastion counter? There are characters with strong CC who can make short work of him like Roadhog. Or characters who can scrap him from long range like Pharah and Widowmaker. What has Reaper got?

Oh and by the way sure, Bastion needs nerfs!

Players in lower ranks refused to work together.
So please remove all heroes that can only be killed with teamwork…

Learn to play as a team… heroes like that are easy to counter that’s why they almost never been played in higher ranks.

Just take dive and all dive it and focus it. With dva matrix removing all damage. And bastion will be dead before he can even kill one person. Especially when you have a higher damage dps hero like pharah or junkrat.

Or just hack the bastion and then focus him down with some help.

And if even if that is not working just get your ult up without feeding by poking the target(s) that not behind the shield being covered by the bastion and shoot a dragon or a dva bomb at them.

Solution for your bastion problem is to climb up or play bastion

My issue with bastion in lower ranks is, once they climb by playing bastion, they stay on bastion throughout silver and gold.
Where in mid gold you get outplayed if you team doesn’t play around you, and they wont.

Not everyone likes to babysit a bastion as tank and support. Especially when bastion is the only one in the gold team with a silver rank icon.

Its a mentality which is naturally for competetiv players.
You don’t want your (maybe) worst player to play a crucial role in holding or losing.

And that’s where you can’t make bastion viable on his own.
Since with a team it would be unstoppable.

To be honest, we have to assume that you are able as example to get to them, and maybe even kill mercy. Since if your aim is bad, the aim of them is bad as well. So they won’t hit you.

I never know how much I can expect from bronze, but i mean…
I was bronze too, short but I was there and yes I might have improved a crazy amount in qp but You just have to see the possibility, and do the best with it.

My games in gold: enemy: mccree, soldier and reaper. So widow hard counters all of them if hitting the head.
My team was screaming swap off widow.
But i didn’t bc I knew that widow is a great pick, and i played her a bit already.

We won.

If you see what can break through utilizing the options and maybe tell your team what could work.

In bronze sorry to say that but… Git gud and you will wreck them.
Maybe even play with better players, watch how they play and try to copy some cool moves.
Since in bronze, nobody plays pretty good. Compared to the default ow player (gold-plat).

Btw, mei can push him higher as his shield is.
Tracer / genji can disturb / kill him or his support.
Roadhog can hook him = dead.
D.va bomb his location.

Hanzo has more burst with storm arrows than bastion in a 1v1. At least i always won the 1v1 you can also utilize cover and corner peak.

Then you kill his teammates instead. Or if you’re saying they all 6 sit behind the shield in the same 2x3 meter area with the Bastion, then it’s so easy to find free angles that shouldn’t be even a problem IF you actually belong above your rank.

Typical toxic overwatch player, flexing his e-peen.
