I have not been able to play for 5 weeks because of a ban but the first thing I see is that I have been reported for abusive chat when coming online again.
And not 1 time but 2 times that appears that I have been reported even not been online for 5 weeks.
How is that even possible when just been banned for “abusive chat” just for that I want other people also report cheaters, hackers and aimboters?
Delayed messages because you’ve not been on for 5 weeks.
Just behave and you’re good.
I just got a similar notification due to calling out cheaters. I was trying to give this game (and Blizzard, really since this is the only game they make that I still play) a last chance due to the influx of cheaters, but I think I’m done.
Calling out cheaters in game, is technically against the code of conduct.
### Behavior
Behavior that intentionally detracts from others’ enjoyment (such as griefing, throwing, feeding, etc.) is unacceptable. We expect our players to treat each other with respect and promote an enjoyable environment. Acceptable behavior is determined by player reports and Blizzard’s decision, and violating these guidelines will result in account and gameplay restrictions.
While we encourage you to report players that are behaving in a disrespectful manner, falsely reporting another player with the sole intent of restricting their gameplay is also unacceptable and will result in penalties to your account.
As far as they are concerned you are disrupting the game. Even more so if the accused isn’t cheating.
If people thought your behaviour was unacceptable, you will rightly be actioned.
My expectation of calling out a cheater is that other players will review their gameplay (maybe watch kill cams if they aren’t already) and come to their own conclusions. Not once have I asked anyone else to report another player. I always tell them to watch the kill cams or replay and then decide.
The reason that this is necessary is the way that Blizzard has structured the report system. It relies upon number of reports. There is no hack/cheat department filled with interns watching game replays. If someone is running a low sensitivity or toggle type cheat then it would be invisible to any kind of automated computer analysis of hit percentage tracking speed, etc.
This is the reason why people have set up entire web servers dedicated to calling out cheaters/hackers… calling attention to it on any of blizzard’s platforms is frowned upon whether you have legitimate evidence or not. They don’t want the bad PR, and seem to be loathe about dedicating much effort or attention to the issue because the majority of players are completely unaware of the problem.
As for other players in the game… I am agreed with just a bit more often than I am disagreed with. I don’t make an accusation without watching lots of kill cams in game (unless its super blatant like insane reaction time) and I don’t encourage anyone to report another player. I tell them to watch the same footage I am (kill cams and replays).
If we are talking numbers, then the way the system works is stacked against trying to make it work. If I report 5 cheaters in a week and 3 or 4 of the cheaters report me for abusive chat then I still have at least 3x as many reports against me than the cheaters do. A lot of people don’t believe or understand how common hacks are, nor how sophisticated some of them are… much less any of the signs someone is using a subtle hack.
Its moot at this point, and an uphill battle I’m not going to fight anymore. Today is my last day playing.
night-wing since you’re on a roll there… how do you deal with throwers? That behavior is unacceptable isn’t it?
Its like cause and effect
cause is throwers,
effect is a player who wants to enjoy the game but gets ban for abusive chat?
At least spell my name correctly… lol
Thrower are annoying. What I do, if I see them, is report them and crack on with the game.
You decided to be abusive to them and got banned, that is your fault.
Talking to them isn’t going to make them do anything, so why waste your time on them.
