Been told about a new system put into ow

Hello iv been off overwatch 2 for a while now coming back in season 9 this is not important. however i have been told that a new system similar to palidans card system or somthing like pvz garden warfares system but when i try to find anything about this i cant.

Id love for a simalur system to pvz garden warfares system with the unlocking of new abilities for each character and with the torb turrets in the story mode i feel like this system would fit. It would add a new level of thought into the game and a hole new level of skill expecially if some of these alternatives abilities wernt a direct upgrade. One that i thought of was the option to replace mercys rez with a clens abilitie. Or they could bring back some older versions of characters. We could give bass hos stationery turret form back. Yes it will be a factor of oh idk what they are running at the start and will have to fight them to figure it out and adapt. Hell iv always loved games that have multiple play styles for each character games like the befor mentioned pvz garden warfare, tf2, hell even palidans can be fun because of thete system.

Just Imagine the possibilitys for the characters i haven’t even though of like hell hogs new heal could have been an unlock you could even give the alternative abilities built in downsides. It would also add more of a use for somthing like the hero mystery and the hero leveling system. I honestly think this could be fun and interesting

Honestly this could just be me wanting to fill the void that pvz garden warfare left and ill admit that bit come on it would be fun instead of coming out of spawn and instantly knowing how each character plays

Tldr: got told a new system simalur to palidans could be coming season 9 and i thinknit could work (honestly just read it for my justifications)

um, I don’t know where you heard this but… I don’t think they’ll be implementing anything like that in OW2 anytime soon. I can update you on what’s coming to season 9:

  • New competitive system, announced at Blizzcon 2023 (small summary right in the wats’next panel available online);
  • In the last devs blog, it was mentioned to give all heroes the self-healing passive when they are out of the fight (yes, even dps and tanks), and that there will be a new experimentation on role passives. This is with the intention of combating the damage/healing power creep that has significantly increased in recent years;
  • The competitive system will allow a rank reset, to be able to update your performance without the usual influence of the ranks of previous seasons (obviously for the higher ranges there is a bit of a limit so as not to lower yourself too much)
  • Indicatively we know that there will be some tuning for Pharah and Cassidy, a small rework to the mechanics of Wrecking Ball and a strong concentration on the modernization of Reaper’s step shadow;
  • From season 9 onwards, new heroes will not be locked behind battlerp ass: everyone will have immediate access to the new heroes (more details coming soon with the monetization change already announced).

On the skills you mentioned I think you are confusing yourself with another statement made about PVE, which is that they have very carefully analyzed the functioning of the additional skills seen in Trial of Sanctuary (last Halloween) which could be useful for future PVE updates .

Yes I played garden warfare 2 a lot, I understand what you mean. but I don’t particularly agree with this type of system, it can create new arguments in the community over who has better power ups than others in a similar way to who already has the best heroes already unlocked in that season. It’s not very wise to implement a further problem where the development team already has many from the point of view of maintaining new features that are continually overturned (rightly, it’s a live service) by the arrival of new heroes and maps.

But I don’t rule out that it could be a useful thing for PVE, which must necessarily have greater entertainment in immersion while solving its replayability problems.

You bring up some very valid arguments. Like how the community could use it to be toxic however i think in the long run it could add more Variety to characters. I wasn’t saying they should add direct upgrades more like what tf2 dose with its alternative wepons have some upsides to the alternatives but also some down sides. Like i said it would fit yes balancingnwould be hard at first with all the new characters coming in and what not but i feel like it could bring some life back into the game

Self healing is both a bandaid and a capitulation.

Everyone who played OW1 for some time predicted this.

This concept is super boring tbh. At least I played the fun times for a while. This game is dunzo.

Thats why i feel a system like what pvz garden warfare has would fit. Like yeh self healing will help the problem of the genji on the other side of the map spamming i need healing but like you said it’s a band-aid solution where as if they added new abilities for everyone (yes this will take a while and be not very balanced at first) they could add abilities that gave health eg genjis deflect how about instead of deflecting he could pop it and the damage delt to it would heal him. What people forget as well is that shooting can be clased as an ability same with alt fire. They could add god knows how many new abilities that could fit with existing characters. You could give soldier a slower gun but again heals him. These are things that could fit into the game. Am i saying oh give everyone a gun that heals them? No im saying maybe we could get more Variety for each character. Hell they could even do it with ults i mean sim has had 3 difrent ults now they could idk give everyone an alternative ult like give sim her Shield jen back. Alot of characters have had an ult change and i know that it could be fun figuring out what the opponents have equipped. Honestly id love to hear some peoples ideas on what abilities they could add as alternatives to others
