So here’s the back ground and sorry if this has been brought up before but it is really present for me right now:
I made this account just some days ago, my other account is nothing special but at least in a comp bracket where people are in voice and mostly trying to be helpful, overall a solid experience.
With this account I’m currently progressing through quickmatches to get to lvl 25 and it’s HORRIBLE. I could go in detail about me as a healer and 5 DDs, me as a tank and no healer, no communication, etc. and I’m VERY curious if I’ll end up remotely where my other account it as soon as I start placement matches… IF I’ll ever get there.
And that’s my point. The beginner experience is as bad as I can imagine and to a good portion, this is due to the lack of information the game gives to players.
And instead of going into the details most people here probably also have experienced… I’ll keep it short.
Dear Overwatch Team, please improve this situation, if it’s with a role queue, other restrictions, idk and you will figure it out but as it is right now, I would quit as a new player before getting into comp and that doesn’t sound good to me.
Happy new year guys

it is true that the “new players” eksperince is really bad, the game give you nothing and drops you in a world where people think they know how to play the game but no one really does (top 500 and pros ekscludet) it is so few people who play for the team insted of there ego, and when blizzard don’t know how to play it how should we know it. but the problem about that, blizzard could give some guidelines, but they just don’t care
there is a find teammates button. Longer waiting but it can help you find teammates who play each role

spend 45min finding a team to play all roles, spend 15min in game - 50/50 for people to leave so if you are unlucky you have to do that over again. People barely use that system anymore, if am lucky i see 3 teams in there, often it is "only french or another language i can’t speak.
New accounts have a horrible experience, its one of the biggest flaws that OW has, alongside with not having a Scoreboard and Replays.
The tutorial is basically to show you the interface, WASD and lets go. Theres no hero training, specific tutorials, combos or tips on the F1 or F2 info, its the worse.
You cant train effectively with bots, because there are only so many available and they are really really really bad on targetting. Im positive they can work on them but they saw nobody is using them … because they are bad (circle reasoning).
Also the match maker is insanely bad. Did my placements on the same rank i have now and any QP or Arcade match with my level 80 acc is 4+ mins and i always get “lowbies”. I have to group up with friends to play “normally”.
I log on this account, 30 sec max queues.
PS: On comp i get 2mins queues, lower than QP with the alter level 80 account
Yes, the missing info about a match you just did is also really weird for me since you have no way of getting any info about what you could have improved. It’s always youtube and memories
I have the feeling that most people either ‘just want to play dps and don’t care’ or think ‘one heal and no tank is fine’.
And how should they get out of that spot if they don’t even join the voice chat?
And like mentioned before, only playing with friends makes quickplay remotely acceptable… with this account I didn’t and ufff…
In my mind a role queue would solve that to a degree but that´’s apparently hard to implement and queue times would go up for dps… which is fine imo… better than instant losses
Getting to diamond is easiest to acheive climbing by stats, and climbing by stats is easiest to achieve by one-tricking dps heroes. Why’s that? Ask Blizzard.
Players are not doing anything wrong by using tactics that will let them climb fastest.
You’re going with a wrong premise, that they want to get out of that spot. We are very uncompetitive community. It’s not enough to simply glue a ladder to a game and say …’ guys, we’re competitive game now".
FIFA19(or any other) doesn’t have a ladder, and is one of the most competitive games you can play today …
It’s neither hard nor demanding … but what will people who can’t play Genji anymore do? Will they wait 5 minutes to play Genji? Or will they just quit the game for the day? It’s profit-sensible question.

Well, I once again assume they also want to win games and get better. So at least in my mind 6x genji only players will not make them more happy since only one of them can play his main anyways. But I may be wrong
About the uncompetitive community I honesly have no clue / data.
Game is almost 3 years old, of course the beginner experience will be bad, its like this in every multiplayer game which has been running for so long.
Besides, most “new” players are smurfs anyway.

I hate the notion that new players in your mind people are so exceptionally dumb that they can’t look stuff up. I mean you have got to be kidding.

I dont think nobody is guessing that, but the truth is, the game does not welcome new players. Its not a welcoming environment or a normal learning curve at all.
Negating scoreboards and replays to improve the game and forcing all players to “look stuff up” somewhere else is far from being ideal.
Just my 2 cents mate.
you just picked wrong time to start play, bcz over9000 bilions smurfs just buyed OW and started to kill newbs
