When people have to wait long, (longer then 5 mins) they tend to go AFK or do something else on their PC. Then they enter a match, and are AFK from start. This is very obvious on PTR where u have role lock, and DPS players have to wait for 15-20 mins.
This problem, could be avoided for a large part, if there would be a last minute check before u enter the game.
“Click within 15 secs, before you enter the game”
If you don’t click, you will be set back in queue (with a maximum of 3 tries orso) which then takes u out of the que-system completely.
And if you do click, well then you aren’t AFK, and the game can start without AFK-starters. Which means the whole game just stops and 11 people have to requeue.

they just need to afk check in skirmish problem solved… not sure if they do but i would assume they do that already…
Skirmish? You do know that you can turn of skirmish, and that most people have it turned off?

ah i was not aware of that… then yes i can see how afk people could be an issue…
They could maybe add some kind of alterantive mini game to people waiting in that case… something to verify people are not afk and ready to fight…
That or just remove the ignore skrimish option frankly its not as if it hurt to get a bit of extra practice in…

I don’t really like skirmish which is why I have it off, it either bores the hell out of me making me not want to play, or tilts the Shat out of me making me no good at playing, im on board with the AFK check… so long as its not obnoxious because while in queue I Alt tab out and watch youtube
ready check as game pops should be a thing for competitive if you ask me.

I do not mean a Skirmish. Just a button on the last second. I don’t wanna actively be skirmishing for 10 minutes either.
Well, people who get to know me on these forums, know that I always like to play devil’s advocate to find the negatives in solutions which, initially, sound good to everyone. Here I do it again. It’s just to make good ideas even more perfect, bear with me
I welcome the idea of being able to alt-tab much more safely instead of staring at the menu screen during a long queue, but I think merely having an AFK check will cancel a lot of games and it will get annoying in the end. I would be quite annoyed if I get booted back to queue 3 times in a row (especially a long queue) because of someone AFK-ing and failing to click the ready check button in time. If there is no negative consequence to AFK-ing in queue anymore, people will just do that all the time.
How about combining that AFK check with a very loud and prevalent “ding” sound? So that there’s still a 10 second timer or something, but there’s a much bigger chance for people to actually come back to the OW screen to click the ready button? I know there’s still a chance you miss the “ding” sound, no matter how loud it is, but if there is no danger to AFK-ing anymore it would just be over-used.

They could do something similar to CS, where everybody has to click to accept the match.

I think you misrepresent my point somewhat. You wouldn’t go back in que if someone else is AFK and doesn’t press the button. Only the person that is AFK will go back in que.
I am talking about solo-queing.
Lets say a match is forming. 11 persons are found for that match. The 12th comes in, but possible nr13 and nr14 as well.
All 12 get the button.
Nr6 doesnt click within time.
“Nr 13” gets the button and makes the match complete.
The match starts.
“Nr 6” Goes back to que, so if the next match forms he gets another chance of clicking.
The “ding” sound is a pretty solid idea.
When i go afk i always know when to come back cuz the ow icon becomes yellow
