Bring back Overwatch 1!

Just give us the last updated version and no need for further updates and also bring it to the Mac!

It should be a separate client!

You got what you wanted. In classic blizzard fashion of doing it the worst way possible

Would be good. OW1 was balanced.
Their development team back then had the competence to create balanced matches.

Yeh i’m not entirely sold on the version they’re about to drop on us this midseason patch.

I’d prefer the version when Echo was released tbh.

fr overwatch has no life to it anymore i don’t enjoy playing the game like i did in 2018.

2018-2022 were banging. It’s a pity that OW2 feels like its been developed by junior developers. Literally feels like 99% of the games are just so one-sided. No balance whatsoever.

It’s so funny that they’re literally back tracking all of the changes made. Cancelled PVE, hopefully moving back to 6v6. Watch them bring back loot boxes (with no way to pay for them to get around the “gambling” aspect of it)

Just shows how little they know about their game, and how they go complacent.

Funny?

It is just a snap shot, LTM. They said if it’s successful they’ll do other events based on different times in OW history.

Just a shame that OG OW was literally the worst version the game has ever seen (as people are about to find out)

They could bring back loot boxes as part of the rewards for completing daily/weekly challenges and hero mastery challenges as well as event challenges.

I mean, without the battle pass, there’s literally no incentives to keep playing anyway.

They can’t, would require multiple versions of the game to be released. Or geoblocking certain content as loot boxes aren’t allowed in certain parts. Given that would adversely impact the Asian market, seems like a very unwise move financially.

Tbf, you shouldn’t take it too seriously, everything they’ve said about this mode has the smell of “you think overwatch is bad now, look how crap it used to be”.

Stop talking nonsense please.

Yes, they can. No it wouldn’t require multiple versions of the game to be released or geoblocking x-y-z content.

PAID loot boxes are illegal in certain EU countries, but FREE loot boxes are not, because FREE loot boxes are not considered gambling. Gambling means monetary investment for a chance to obtain x items.

Plenty of games in Europe features loot boxes. It’s mainly about the way they name them and also about the content and how transparent they are about the odds of obtaining x-y-z items.

With FREE loot boxes, you don’t invest anything besides a small amount of time you would’ve spent playing the game either way.

The Asian market is a separate market and have no bearing on the western market whatsoever.

No matter what you believe. Battle passes make more money. So they won’t go back.

The only way to make loot boxes a viable strategy is to sell them. Which is where they become illegal. Free is still morally dodgy as you’re introducing minors to gambling.

But that aside. The OW1 event, I’ll be interested to see how long it takes before people moan about how the balance is terrible and so on. The usual stuff.

Can’t believe you had to explain that  :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Even if the loot boxes return, I don’t think they 'll put the new OW2 skins on it. Maximum we can have is some voicelines with some sprays.

The only way they could do it is free, which is still morally corrupt.

Abd why would they do it for free. That’s what landed Ow1 in to the mess it was, that forced OW2 to be pushed out before it was ready.

In short, loot boxes are not a smart move. Financially or morally.

They could have just put the store/battlepass into OW. There was no need to push out a half finished/bug ridden game, they just got complacent, and probably lacked intelligent/competent developers.

Take a look at PUBG for instance, same game as when it was released, but they didn’t spaff out PUBG2, they just developed the original game. They didn’t become complacent. They continued pushing out quality content. They’re in the top 10 most played at the moment on Steam whereas OW2 is one above Truck Simulator  Apex is similar to PUBG, they developed the original game which is also in the top 10.

Saying “They had to” shows you are clueless.

I can see why the below had to be explained now.

They’ve also explained why they decided to change the game with 5v5.

So just adding the shop would have meant they could potentially make money again (lack of content makes that doubtful, but we’ll never know). But the fundamental issues OW1 had wouldn’t of been addressed (not enough tank players).

So OW2 was going to happen either way. They were working on that in about 2018 (maybe earlier).

We’d of probably had OW2 earlier and more “complete” if the offer of additional resources hadn’t of been rejected by the then game director.

Yet they’re looking into 6v6 again.

It wasn’t an issue during one of the patches in 2020 until they ruined it again. Make all roles fun, then they won’t have no queue problems.

They could have just done PUBG/Apex/Dota/CS did, and just developed funding streams in the game. Instead they brought out OW2 for PVE, even though they planned on canning PVE. Still he most negatively rated game on Steam. Still massively negative on Metacritic in comparison to OW. Joke of a development team.

Indeed. It’s been 2 years (up to 6 of development). It is always worth testing the waters to see things have changed.

That’s what live service games should be doing. Essentially pandering to the player base. If the test are mega successful, they 100% should do it.

I’ve got a feeling they’ll stick to 5v5 and find a middle ground between the main 1 max 2 and kingmaker modes. But that’s just my gut based on how they’re talking and treating the tests. Happy to be wrong.

They could of. But they didn’t. No point worrying about things they could have done. Everyone’s an expert in hindsight.

I really don’t think they care at this point. It’s live service. They’ll just pander to the people actually playing the game.

They could mix that with old skins from OW1. We don’t need that bloat filling up the store. They should focus on making new stuff for the store, not fill it with old stuff from OG OW.

This is NOT ow 1. Some numbers are totally off. Zarya has 2 bubbles, symm 3 turrets, some damage numbers are just plain wrong and not what they were in ow 1, I dunno what Blizz did here tbh. It just LOOKS like ow1.
lol the symm beam is also super weird and wrong. doesnt really “work”.
