I’ve been playing this game since 2017, and I have never seen QP matchmaking be this broken before. 
The amount of SMURFS that are in every match now. Some level 15 Hanzo that is literally killing every single person in my team, or the level 20 Rein which somehow plays like he’s in OW league.
Blizzard really needs to fix their matchmaking. It’s literally unplayable atm.
A match won’t last 5 minutes cos the rival team is a bunch of lowies with ow league skill.
I’m not ow league good, so, as u can guess, me and my team just gets spawn camped. This happened 3 matches in a row.

Sounds like the match maker is working. It will put people in games of higher and lower skill to try and gather data. Until they play A LOT of matches when then it will settle down.
Wasn’t there a legend going around that Blizz can precisely place people in their rank bracket in 10 games. Some even claimed that it only takes them 5 games.
How many games do you have to play to be lvl 15? Shouldn’t that be enough?

Unless you see the code, or know exactly how it works you will never know.
But they have said MMR is on a rolling basis with more weighting towards more recent sessions.
It will be constantly putting you in slightly better, and slightly worse lobbies to see how you get on.

Chill fanboy. This was a popular opinion not so long ago when people were complaining on not being placed high enough at the start of a season. Two arguments were always put forward:
- It takes MMR a few matches to place you (this seems unlikely)
- The more you play, the closer you will be to your rank (yeah, this is how averages and statistics work)
Both arguments should negate any effect smurfs have on regular folks. You run into a smurf, you get steamrolled, the smurf gets an MMR boost.
The issue behind all of this is that the amount of rank you can get is capped or at least severely limited. That means that a GM with a new account will have to trudge through all the ranks under his/hers actual skill, before they are at their ‘real’ rank. And I am confident that this approach is not appreciated by smurfs and plebs alike.

Of course they do. The system assumes a new account is a new account. Because if they hardware linked them, you could end up with a GM players little brother getting a new account, playing on the same PC and being totally useless… Putting them in a GM game would be ridiculous.
The system has it’s flaws, but I am not sure there is a better way of doing it. Pretty sure if there was a more fool proof way, they’d have implimented it somewhere down the line.
One suggestion I’ve seen would be to remove all SBMM from QP and arcade modes. Would certainly speed up queues… But games would be an utter cluster…
I can see why people get annoyed/confused by it as it is inconsistent. And would appear to be so deliberately.
Luckily it is just QP and you can just go again without losing anything. Other than time.
Also, play 2-3 sessions a week, not matter what mode, smurfs will have little to no impact on your MMR, SR or anything else.
So we’re back to ‘play 10000 games and all will be well and fine’.
I’m gonna assume you’re a teenager with copious amount of time to spend on this game. That’s great, I am happy for you. Not all players of OW have that amount of time to spend on OW algorithms catching up to their skill.
I generally play more than 3 sessions a week. There is a considerable amount of players that are obviously playing way below their skill level and they tend to be very low level; i.e. no stars, bronze level 50 or below.
Blizz has a revenue of about 900mio a year. If it was imperative to them to have a better MMR they could make it. They choose not to make it. Mo smurfs, mo money.
An alternate explanation is that frustrated players are loaning their accounts to Masters for money, to boost them up.
All in all, Blizz needs to either remove smurfing from their offence system or make a better MMR system. Neither is likely to happen.
I haven’t said how many game, I dont know how many. All I know is your MMR isn’t a constant and changes as you improve or get worse.
If you want to assume someone isbooating an account in QP then fine. It doesn’t happen.
You get 1 or 2 bots leveling accounts to sell, but they are banned pretty quickly.
Why are you worried so much by account levels and MMR… QP is just a let your hair down chill out mode. If the game is annoying you just leave and requeue. No ones making you stay in a QP lobby.
And personally, I only play 2-3 hours maybe 3 times a week. Other games to play. So I just play ranked with my friends and we have fun.
And if we drink, we play QP and mess about.
If QP is just for fun and absolutely nothing else, then why call it QP? Have an IAmExperimenting queue, where can I learn to effectively play a new character. I’ve heard many folks in competitive say they are here exclusively to practice their new main/secondary. I am guessing that’s why they are using a smurf account and they are waiting to come at par with their main account before they roll out their new character. Same goes for QP.
This is another topic all together. Just because you are a group it does not give you license to ruin other people’s game or waste their time. By that I mean solo queuers that need to fill your group up to 6.
Yes I can leave, but I can’t select to not be paired with you again or other drunken sods that are in just to chat and press keys from time to time.
True, this matchmaking is still such a scam. I want to play with and against players like my skill level. They need to fix this its not playable

Unless someone actively alters there SR or MMR. But the match maker doesn’t know that.
Can confirm after buying a new account that after bullying bronze players for 2-3 games, I was already playing with plats/diamonds/masters. The MMR system works and it works fast.
