Blizzard seem scared of giving her the drawbacks of actual snipers because someone will get upset. She has a MASSIVE perk of limitless hitscan and great OHKO potential. But she ruins games.
They should absolutely reduce her HS multiplier and make her take single, solid shots if not slow the power gain.

My only problem with mememaker, is the fact the cd of the hook is too low.
And the HS crit multiplier is too high.
Which is enough to oneshot 80% of the game without a max charged shot.
I indeed have a problem with snipers in this game, mostly because i don’t understand whats their role in this game, except annoying ppl and force yourself to go shield comp.
We have literally maps 20 meters x 20 meters, why we have snipers ? They are even more senseless than snipers in call of duty
To be fair though, at least Widow can be dealth with. She kills one, D.Va sees where she was, dives her, kills her, it’s 5v5 with D.Va being out of the fight for a bit, so a net gain for the team with Widow. Diving Hanzo is a lot more annoying, because he can activate Storm Arrows and if he’s even a tiny bit smart, he waits for you to expend you Defense Matrix and bursts you down with his 840 damage. So yeah, you can’t dive Hanzo, but you can dive Widow. On Hanzo you gotta sneak up (and still be at a disadvantage because he excels at every range).
Well, widowmaker is already in a bad spot so if they nerf her even more it would be a disaster.
I have nearly 200 hours on widow… I practice my aim daily and I still suck and you want to nerf a hero in which most of the playerbase cant even play effectively and I include myself in that AND you have no comp experience… this post is a joke
Completely agree. If you were to nerf widow, she would be completely unplayable to 97% of the player base. I too practice playing Widowmaker, and I know how annoyed people get, because she’s got the reputation of being useless in most situations, when played by someone lacking the skills to headshot everyone. She has a great counter, which is you can see exactly where she is, as soon as she fires her shot - you really just need to be more alert.
well thats the thing you can’t dive her if you do she’ll just grapple away and shred your hp then move and if she grapples to her team your dived just failed and your dead
I’ve played a bunch of D.Va the last couple of days, and while I’m incredibly rusty and lost a lot, Widowmakers generally aren’t as big of an issue (mid gold to plat). If you time your missiles, she has to dodge quickly, which in almost all cases means that she’ll grapple out of sight lines (basically, you corner her) - already a win for you, and with D.Matrix you might even get away with only a single headshot. After that, your Boosters have 5sec cooldown while her Hook has 10sec.
well if you have nearly 200 hrs on a hero and still aim with them than that’s 100% your fault because she’s a hitscan where you have to learn what charge percent is your lethal so that you can the best ROF and i know uts not hard because ive seen more than plenty who can trick shots and flicking around and such many of them in QP and some in Plat and level 200+ on the 2 accounts I have on CONSOLE

You can easily get to her. Her hook range is not that far, so unless she’s at a tactical spot, you can get close and kill her, since she’s useless in close combat.
All I’m saying, is that you just have to approach your execution differently, because in many cases, she’s just dead weight on the team.
Whilst a S76 might have killed 3 players, the team Widow has barely made a good shot yet, exactly because it takes a lot to master her.
no i see the opposite quite a lot and diving is way harder than it seems since the only way many to dive her is by using movement abilities but once they do she grapples away and she and js actually a long distance if you do the hop and she doesn’t need a whole lot of range and if try get close to her without using your movement ability than your either taking way to long and she’s killing the rest if your team or you just can’t flat out reach her
Honestly I just think Widow and Hanzo should have their headshot damage against armour nerfed.
Suddenly, Winston and D.Va don’t lose half their damn healthpools trying to dive on the snipers.
you realize you can jump and then 180 to avoid headshot damage… all the top winstons do this when diving a sniper
Even widows do that when they miss their trick shots (spinning looking downwards).
All of the arguments are a nice pile of bs. Not because of Widowmaker, but the mentality in general. There’s no a single proposition that doesn’t state indirectly “why I cannot have a free kill against that hero? He doesn’t deserve to be in the game just because I picked Winston or D.Va even if I have no clue what to do.”.
At this state of the game the only heroes that make sense to whine are:
D.Va
Ashe
Briggite for enabling goats

Everyone who thinks characters should be nerfed has two options. Either learn about your enemy so you know how to counter them, or go play a game where you compete to see who can give the most hugs and everyone gets a participation trophy.
i don’t have a problem with widow getting a free kill, i have a problem that they get multiple free kills, constantly 2 tapping people, all the while being hard to dive since they are very far ffom the action and since you have to use movement tools to get close only for her to grapple away to safety
You don’t have to. You play as part of a team most of the time. Let one of them do it. I’m a Sombra main, and I kill snipers more games than not. I turn shielders into slow, clunky hit boxes. I clip wings. I halt wheels. I silence music. And I die all the friggin time because I have the HP of a gnat and more haters then a centerist presidential candidate with a chance of getting elected.
Maybe because she is one of the most balanced heroes and there are something called shields that stop her shots? Or it takes skill to actually use her? Or maybe there are literally many counters to her like genji, d.va Winston, hammond just to name a few. Or tanks that don’t get one shorted from the bullet and they immediately get healed up. I am leaving out a lot more but I didnt give short answer because I am a mercy main I gave a short answer because it is a stupid thread.
