It says “unacceptable for world of warcraft”, not in.
I guess you’ve been so toxic they’ve banned you before you can play it lol
(Jokes aside, I guess the dude at blizzard forgot to tweak the template response and change the game name).
Just got banned for a month, of course without any exact reasoning. They go full Nazi-Mode with their ticket system. Repeated banter in the cess-pool called Unranked and you’re out without any look on the circumstances. As I can’t recall any excessive bad behavior, I assume they auto-check your chat log at a certain point and follow a zero-tolerance-policy.
Extra penalties for leaving Quickplay are aimed to further enrage the player base. My suggestion: if you’re quick to be pissed off by selfish co-players, disable chat altogether and play competitive only.
Don’t try to challenge a ban, you only will receive an automated reply or copy&paste answer from a dude in a 3rd world support center who couldn’t give less of a crap.
P.S: Did you know that you’re not allowed to use your ingame currency to buy something in the game’s web shop while suspended? Not quite sure if this follows European rights.
Banter is only banter if everyone is having fun, and it’s notoriously difficult to know banter from insults when text chatting with strangers.
Better option, as you said, is to just turn off the chat than to engage.
Once the person is flagged for inappropriate communication, i believe that their defence matrix ai will scroll through the chat log of the flagged match and find any words that match their list of unaccepted words.
It will not be able to tell if those words were used to defend or attack someone, so it’s just better to not use them.
I assume it takes more than 10 (possibly even 30 or more) matches to be flagged and verified for offence before getting banned for such a long time.
Extra penalties in qp are aimed to lessen the frustration of players who are tired of their teams abandoning a perfectly winnable game after they get killed once.
In my games people have no longer left if they die in the first team fight.
And being in a backfill limbo was always the worst. Imagine waiting through 3 backfills for your tank before one of them actually stays. And that happened because our first tank left right as the spawn doors opened and no one wanted to backfill, even if the first one would have gptten a full match. Half a minute between every backfill.
Now that if anything was very tilting, to lose because of 4 people who didn’t want to play despite queueing.

I assume that’s the case… I was banned for 14 days from communication (strong language), then 14 days full suspension (unspecified) and then another full month after but a week of Season 8. I pretty much held back my frustration (in my opinion whatever it’s worth) and usually switched to competitive when Unranked was abysmal again.
Nobody announced reporting me and my reputation went from 0 (yeah was 1 on screen, but I got a promotion info for rank 1 after a few games) back to 3 in a week.
I will ask for a long term chat suspension, before frustration gets the better of me again, because I have no clue what language is too much (obviously not late-night talk show level) or if even some German words (my native language) trigger the system,
To me, the problem usually starts before the match. After thousands of matches, you get a feeling which team constellations work especially bad, e.g. high-skill heroes like DF, Widow, Ashe, Zenyatta all in a team on a defense mission. It’s frustrating to know, that you’re trapped for the next 5 mins with no chance to prevent failure.
I’d welcome 3-5 free and unsanctioned leaves during hero selection a day and qp penalties only once the match begins.
Leaving during hero select was never really a problem as a replacement usually came in before the match started. But the problem was that person instantly leaving because they “don’t want to join someone elses loss”, despite the fact the match hadn’t started yet. It was enough for them to leave once they saw that the match was ongoing.
True enough, but i just usually think of it as a handicap and try my best regardless. And depending on the map and players, a doomfist combined with a mobile “front line” support can usually hold their own pretty well while the zen and snipers plink away.
I’m at gold though, so i imagine the situation can be very different on different ranks.
Enemy teams are many levels too. You can hold dorado with orisa, torbjorn and kiriko with the other two goofing and afking sometimes, with no enemy even trying to flank or swap heroes (not to mention shooting the support). And other times it feels like you get out played despite what you try as a team.
Oh, I was talking about Unranked only. In competitive, I assume the others pick what they think will work for them. There, you seldomly see such crazy team combos. In Unranked however, too often. And that’s when I “express” myself and that’s where my problem started.
Don’t you get penalized too then?
I’m talking about unranked here as well XD but there’s a difference between just starting bronze and gold (not to mention masters at all)
I usually play mystery heroes, so really weird team comps happen all the time and you just learn to live with it.
And yes, people do get penalized for that, but yesterday i had my team leave on me in 3 matches midway through. Once we were winning too when our tank crashed and the rest of the team left right after. Several times. I can only hope they get penalised for it

I wasn’t aware of rank influencing Unranked matchmaking. So it’s a good idea to get a higher ranking early in the season? On a positive note, my suspension has been lifted and I disabled chat completely to be (hopefully) safe now.
Leavers are a pain, on the other hand they have a funny side, sometimes. Like when they leave 10s before a loss (bye XP) or when so many leave, that the near full replacement is so good, that it changes the tide and wins
The matchmaking works the same in both unranked and ranked (ranked being just slightly pickier) but the rank itself doesn’t really influence anything, the invisible mmr beneath it does (i believe the mmr is the same in both ranked and unranked).
It’s just much easier to talk about a visible rank than an invisible entity.
I hope disabling chat helps you in the future.
I love it when the replacements are better than the ones who left. It used to be a thing that when someone left, the backfill was of a slightly higher skill. It has been stated that this is not the case anymore though. It’s still nice when it happens by sheer luck.
The leavers at the end of the match always confuse me. Why leave seconds before a match ends and take the penalty? When you could just sit out the few seconds remaining and not take a penalty.
Even funnier is when this kind of people then complain about getting the leaver suspensions.
