Cannot connect to game servers

I am queueing for ranked, I get a game, but I can’t connect to the game server. I get stuck in the main menu, where there’s a button saying “Rejoin match”, instead of “Play”. When I click it, nothing happens. I can still chat with the players in the match, and do commands such as /list to see who’s in the game. This has happened at the very least 7-10 times so far the past 7 days. It is extremely frustrating, and I am losing a massive amount of SR because of it. Not only that, but I also get banned from queueing for x minutes. It is currently at 60 minutes. Seeing as I am a top 500 player, this is hurting me more than it should be doing. I went from rank 70 to rank 500 because of all the DCs I have been having. This is unacceptable.

If it is a persistent problem for you, please stop queuing for ranked for now. That is 90 peoples games you’ve cancelled, which will be annoying for them.

This is a bug that seems to be quite common, try uninstalling and reinstalling the game.

“Please stop queueing ranked for now.”
This is beyond stupid. I will not stop playing ranked, because Blizzard is messing something up. It is beyond my control, so I will keep doing what I am allowed to do. Which is to queue ranked. And reinstalling the game is not gonna fix the issue, as it makes no sense on why it would. This is on their server’s side. It isn’t on mine, as nothing has changed and I have NEVER had this issue before, and I’ve played Overwatch since 2016. With the same network, same ISP, same router etc. so it is only logical it’s on Blizzard’s end.
So no, I will not give in and stop qeueuing ranked. Whoever is affected, is affected by Blizzard and not me.
Some more information as well: It isn’t every game, but it is nearly every day. Out of 15-20 games, it happens once. The last 2 times, I could queue one game in between, which means it was 2 every 3 games. It is abnormally random, and the cause impossible to find out from my end. I have no VPNs installed. I have relative fast internet, with a good connection.

You are ruining so many games for people.

I know it isn’t your fault. But only you can do something about it.

So you get drops in your communications with the server. That might not even be a Blizzard issue.

Are you playing over WiFi or a wired connection.

“You are ruining so many games for people.” First and foremost, the games get canceled. Secondly, it isn’t me who is ruining the games. Thirdly, I will keep queueing, because this issue is 100% on Blizzard’s end.
I am connecting to the server’s match chat. I can still chat with players, and see who is in the lobby. If I spam the “Rejoin game” button, it might put me in. It usually doesn’t though. I’d say so far, I’ve gotten in 3 times by spamming it.
And I am using an ethernet cable, connected into a router that is connected to a fiber line. The same ethernet cable I have been using the past 2-3 years. Everything else on my PC works wonderfully, AS IT’S SUPPOSED TO DO.

Point 1.
Correct, but you’ve ruined it because everyone else had to wait in a queue only for you to fail to join. Wasting peoples time.

Point 2.
It is you. It isn’t deliberate, but you are the one choosing to queue, knowing you have an issue.

So, it sound like you need to remove the game from your PC completely and reinstall it.

Me deciding to queue is within my rights. What you’re saying is, I should just wait for this to never end? If the people who are DCing stop playing, the “issue” is gonna disappear, right? No. It will still retain. Everyone who is experiencing this needs to keep playing, or else this issue will never get fixed. Saying otherwise is dumb.
Reinstalling the game is NOT going to work. It doesn’t make sense whatsoever. There is nothing wrong with the game files. It has to do with the server. If files don’t align between me and the server, then I shouldn’t be able to play at all. But I can play EVERY map and EVERY mode. So that eliminates the “reinstall fix”. It has absolutely nothing to do with game files.

Continually saying “Reinstall” is equivalent to saying “Have you tried turning it off and on again”

No. I have clearly said you need to uninstall and reinstall the game fresh.

And yes, queueing is within your right… but you will soon get a very long ban, if you don’t take some basic actions.

It isn’t the server, if it was the server, everyone would have failed to connect. If is your game communicating with the server that is the issue. YOU are where the issue lies.

Then why is it inconsistent? I’ve seen it happen to more people. Some people mid-game even. It isn’t on my end, as I can occasionally join by spamming the “Rejoin match” button. This means that I AM able to join, but it isn’t 100% of the times, unless it randomly decides to let me in. Explain how that is on my end, and what it has to do with the game files needing to be reinstalled

That is the fun thing with bugs. They won’t happen to everyone.

In short.
Your game is struggling to connect to the server.
The server isn’t the issue (because everyone in your match would have an issue).
So the issue must be elsewhere, probably with your launcher communicating with server.

This isn’t your fault. Could be a billion things causing it. Corrupt file, momentary internet issues, millions of things.

If you haven’t wiped the game, and reinstalled it… Then start there, and move on to the next possible cause.

You will never solve the issue shouting about it, and queuing knowing you have an issue is just asking for trouble.

I am just trying to help you not get banned. I appreciate this is annoying. It has happened to me a couple of times, once in OW2 and once in OW1. I did a fresh reinstall of OW2 and its not happened since. Could be a coincidence, but worth a try.
