Since the 6th of December, I seemingly can no longer connect to Battle.net servers unless I use VPN.
Overwatch gives me “Unable to login. Time out communicating with Battle.net services” message when I launch it from Steam, when I try to open Battle.net application, it says “Could not log in to Battle.net” and error BLZBNTBGS80000011.
As mentioned, everything works fine when I use VPN, but it’s not an acceptable solution to me, since the ping goes crazy, and I can’t play the game normally.
I have already tried everything on Blizzard’s support page (IP release/renew, flushing DNS, changing DNS, shutting down firewall, closing 3rd party applications, checking if my drivers are up-to-date, etc.), I even brought my laptop to my relative’s house to try to connect using their internet network (different ISP too!) but no difference.
Have your tried completely uninstalling battlenet, and the games, then reinstalling everything?
Battle.net wasn’t installed on my PC prior to this issue, but I will try to re-install Overwatch on my Steam acc later. However, I’m 99% sure it won’t solve anything because Battle.net is not working for me either despite being freshly installed (I have not even made it locate my Overwatch folder yet, so these two are not connected to each other, I assume).
I have the same issue, happened also on december 6th. I’ve been in contact with the support and all the steps they’ve given me have not helped at all. I just hope it’s just a server error.
The code is listed as servers being in maintenance. So safe so assume something went a little t!ts up.
Quick uninstall and reinstall should reset things and if that doesn’t work. Who knows.
I have a bad feeling this might not be a coincidence. By any chance, do you happen to live somewhere near Crimea or Donbass?
I live in Stockholm, Sweden. Even my friends in northern Sweden have the same issue. I assume they have problems with EU servers as a whole and some regions might not be able to connect.
Oh, that’s good news! I mean, at least makes me hopeful it’s Blizzard’s mishap. I do not know if I’m allowed to ask it on this forum, but have you tried playing Mrvel Rvals? It’s not letting me on their servers unless I have a VPN on either. Makes me think if this is connected somehow or also a coincidence.
I have same issue here
Battle.net app can’t login into account without VPN
Luhansk, Russia
I live close to Luhansk as well! Could be a regional ban, but we will have to see. Please let me know if you get this problem resolved.
Stay safe out there! Hope it gets resolved!
Thank you! Re-installing did not help, unfortunately.
I did an experiment yesterday and I think this problem has to do with the ISP (internet service provider). I downloaded battlenet on an old laptop and connected it with my phone hotspot, I could login without any problems. As soon as I connected to the wifi and plugged in an ethernet cable the connection stopped working.
Try contact your ISP to see if they have blocked something, meanwhile use a VPN to bypass the restrictions.
Thank you! Do you know what exactly should I tell my ISP?
Luhansk, Luganet ISP, i have connection error since last week. My friends from Crimea and Donbass have the same problem, and the other friends from old Russian territories connecting without any troubles
