It is incorrect to evaluate a player’s rank by the number of wins. It is much more logical to evaluate a player’s rank by his personal statistics within a match and the number of best moments.
Let me explain my position: very often lately I’ve been getting players who can’t play at all. While I am trying and playing clearly not at my rank and deserve a higher rank (I checked in matches with a large spread) - I don’t even get a chance, because my teammates often ruin the game. And it’s not fair. It’s like if 2 out of 5 people in team work badly, the HR department would evaluate the work of ALL the team as unsatisfactory.
How to fix the ranking system - I suggested in the first paragraph.
Or is it better to keep it fairly simple, so everyone understands what they need to do. If their objective is to climb that it.
You win the match. You’ll have to keep improving your skills if you want to keep winning. Otherwise you’ll find your level and be about 50% win rates with a volume of matches.
Anything that judges players on stats would be easy to manipulate, or (as was the case in the past) boost players when they shouldn’t have been.
Trust you not to understand. Quite obviously in there… The OP is on about deserving to be in a higher rank, but keeps getting put with people that are lower skilled that;
So being paired with people like that = match making issue.
They are on about MMR being based on wins and losses and if there might be a better way of doing it.
Another way used to be used, it was removed for a reason. Wins and losses is simple but effective.
A player thinking they should be higher rank than they are is an age old tale. Luckily, if you’re good enough, you’ll win more again these people you deem “lesser” and climb. That’s the thing, no matter what they use, the best players will always hit the top, because ultimately all that matters is your ability to complete the task at hand (win the match)
What often ruins games is people tilting at others they perceive not to be performing to their idea of what that level should be. Just focus on your job and you’ll be fine in the long run. You can’t win every game.
We’re not talking about the player recruitment system, by any means. The point is that we need to change the player ranking system so that the rank is not based on the number of your wins/losses, but on the statistics inside the match and the number of best chances (even overlapped ones). Moreover, I think it is possible to make a rank pseudo-boost if you beat your teammates statistically in a match. Blizzard removed the gold medal system, which was the BEST player ranking system - that’s exactly what could be put back into the ranking formula, with a sauce of personal stats and best moments.
I realize that the win-ranking system is the standard for games, but it’s a crappy system, especially in games that emphasize team play. I think that my option to change the FORMAT of player evaluation is the best one.
Smurfs (Boosters included), Derankers, general throwers, Cheaters (Boosters included), and that’s on top of the already horrible matchmaking.
The only time your arguments is correct is if you’re above M3.
It would be a combination of wins as well as stats when calculating rank progression.
It’s not rocket science.
It also wouldn’t be easy to manipulate by players.
In games like COD, sure it’s easy to manipulate but games like COD have a different system for calculating overall progress and ranks.
Skills is just one minor facet of the game, while the rest depends on your team, not you as a solo player. That’s the grand misconception you and others have. If the rest of the team is bad, you won’t win and that’s just an undeniable fact… Whether you win or lose is literally decided by the matchmaker and the rest of your team. Not Your Individual Skills.
So if you keep getting placed with people who are lower skilled than you, they’ll keep holding you back in return and there’s nothing your ‘skills’ can do about it.
You seriously need to stop gaslighting. It’s pathetic at this point.
It’s definitely not perfect. But they tried other ways and it didn’t work.
But, basing it on wins and losses is proven in many fields to work. The more people play, you’ll always end up with the best people at the top. Just look at any competition. Early on in a season then league will look scuffed, then as more is played the cream rises.
People will always find external things to blame (as you’ll have seen above), but they don’t do anything other than slow you down. If you’re working on improving your skills, then you’ll be fine. Even with some of the shocking games you might encounter. (Ultimately if you’re not pulling your weight, you can’t really look at anyone else to blame)
The other option is to just accept what and where you are. Chill and enjoy the video game when it’s fun. (Which is hard atm, what with the rise of Orissa, again)
