Origins:
The Gentleman was born into a wealthy business-family in Yorkshire a few years after the end oft he Omnic-Crysis. Despite their overwhealming responsibilities as chairmen of a big company his parents gave their child a lot of love and care and were very insistant on him learning the concepts of etiquette and proper behavior. They really shared a special relationship. The more devastating it was for the Gentleman to see his parents gunned down in front of him when they were out in the city one night. The Gentleman could never shake the trauma of that day and tried desperately to find out who killed his parents. But all his efforts lead to dead ends. Out of frustration he started training his skills in combat to be able to protect himself in the future. When he came off age the Gentleman inherited his parents´ company and all the wealth that came with it. Now being able to harness the true power of the universe (eat your heart out, Sigma ) he set out on another attempt to find out the truth about his parents´ deaths. His private investigations lead him down a rabbithole that ended with one name: Talon. They had ordered the assassination of his parents due to rivalling interests (fill in the blanks
). Around the same time, the long disbanded Overwatch-Initiative had resurfaced and started to take open action against Talon. While the Gentleman appreciated their effort he found that the newly forged organisation was to open about its goals. He believed that Talon needed to be struck from the shadows from which they operated. Having inherited the skills of character-judgement and persuasion from his parents the Gentleman set out to find people with special abilities that were willing to fight Talon in a more back-handed manner (more character-concepts hopefully coming soon
) to form a organisation of his own, financed by his immense wealth. Now the Gentleman fights his own war on both the diplomatic and tactical front to avenge the death of his parents.
Appearence:
The Gentleman wears an elegant suit with a bowtie and a flower that is attached to his jacket. He wears a short top hat, a bowler or a fedora as well as a wristwatch on his left arm. He always carries a walking-cane with him that he inherited from his father. The Gentleman modified the cane in a way that it can be pulled apart, turning it into two different means of attack: a florett and a handgun.
Abilities:
Primary: Handgun: fires 9mm rounds at a slow rate. 70 damage per shot with damage decreasing over distance.
Secondary: Florett: melee attack that deals 40-50 damage per strike.
E: Recon: Gentleman throws his hat into the air turning it into a reconnaissance-drone that he controls over his wristwatch to manually mark enemies to make them visible through walls for himself an his teammates. The reconnaissance is cancelled if the hat gets shot down by an enemy.
Shift: Smokebomb: Gentleman detaches the flower from his jacket and throws it. The flower eminates a gray smoke that disrupts the enemies vision, allowing for a quick escape or a surprise attack.
Ultimate: Ionic shaft: Ionizes the shaft oft he cane giving the Gentleman the choice between two Ultimates:
- Ionic Bullett: He can use the shaft to ionize one of his bullets making it able to penetrate walls and enemies (but not shields) dealing significant damage. With this ability the Gentleman can line up a shot wit multiple enemies standing behind each other, dealing damage to all of them.
- Ionic Florett: Charges up the florett enabeling it to instantly kill an enemy within melee-distance. Can only strike one enemy but kills him definitely.
(I know its kind of close to Genjis ultimate Dragonblade but I like the idea of a character being able to choose between two ultimates. I guess you could leave the florett out oft he concept alltogether but I found it to fit the character quite well)
Final thoughts:
I think that the Gentleman could be quite an intriguing character. A machiavellistic sociopath who uses his charm and charisma to manipulate people into doing what he wants. Some kind of a mix between Batman and Lex Luthor. He could be an anti-hero who´s actions actually lend more towards the anti-part than the hero-part. A man who is not bound by any moral code and who´s only connection to the „good guys“ is that he has the same enemies. A hero who is closer to a villain than anything else.
Anyway leave your thoughts on the concept, maybe alongside a few suggestions for his name (Layton would be my suggestion). Take care
