Cheating in competitive on ps4

Hi blizzard, I want to know why in competitive game we can meet mouse users and do you think this thing is normal?

It’s not easily detectable due to using adapters emulating controllers. And I don’t think they’re actually allowed by Sony to BAN m+kb.

They do deal with it, but i do think if you wanna play mouse keyboard it should be against other players also using keyboard and mouse without aim assist anything so you should play on PC in that case not on console is meant for comfort from couch with controller not a mouse and keyboard

I have to admit that I feel it’s somewhat pathetic to go through the effort and money to get a mouse, keyboard and adapter to gain an edge over other players, on console.

I mean, if it was winners instinct they had, they would work hard and win through skill. Now it’s just sad, and makes me think of the guy who gets beaten up by his class mates and beats up some preschoolers for revenge.

Players forget on console you have aim assist to so bassicly its as bad as aimbot on pc.

Well mouse and keyboard on console being cheating is debatable. It can definitely give a sizeabale advantage, but that doesn’t neccissarily make it cheating.

Is using an Xbox elite or scuff controller cheating? Both give you an advantage, and cost reasonably more than a xim (mouse and keyboard for console). They are first party input devices designed to give you an advantage in competitive play.

If one spends hundreds of dollars on a steering wheel setup for a racing game, and now has an advantage online, are they a cheater for spending the money they’ve earned for a set up that suits them?

Most people that use a xim just prefer a mouse and keyboard setup. Now the argument is why don’t they just play PC ? Money issues maybe. All thier friends play on a certain platform.

Now that crossplaform and mouse and keyboard on consoles is a thing, developers are going to need to begin to filter games buy input rather than platform. But they still would need to be able to differentiate a xim from a controller.

Actually, by using a controller emulator, like the xim, you are violating the terms of service, as it does not generate one game event per human action. So it’s cheating, and bannable.

How is it more than one action per key? I thought it was pretty much a remaping of your console keys to a keyboard?

Or are you getting at pressing left shift triggers left bumper, so that counts as two keys?

Because that’s still considered one game event per human action.

How is that different than remmaping on a Xbox elite controller ? And what about the hori tac pro? Official lisceneced mouse and keyboard by Microsoft and sony that uses actual Xbox/PS4 buttons?

Macros/ scripts would be two actions one buttion which is different.

It’s pretty much impossible to just map mouse axes to stick axes and get anywhere near decent results, as mice just report ticks moved up/down or left/right while a stick reports -1/+1 for each axis. The mouse is not constrained to any range, so it can move an infinite distance at any speed as long as it has a high enough polling rate, while the sticks are constrained.

To translate mouse movement to stick movement, it’s necessary to rapidly change the stick position between multiple values, when you’re moving the mouse on a single axis at a constant speed.

It just doesn’t translate very well 1:1 because of the difference in reference systems. A mouse reports position relative to last poll, while a stick reports position relative to center position. So an emulator needs to correct for this to be usable.

Edit: for the XIM, a major component of the correction is the smart translator. If it was just a straight remap, you wouldn’t need STs.

Using any mouse and keyboard is fine, doesn’t matter if it’s an “official” one or not. But then the game needs to support that.

The problem its not just mouse+keyboard
The problem is mouse+keyboard+AimAssist

Aim assist meant for controller users only

Some ppl hook their xbox up to their PC anyways to run on PC monitor. If you’re doing that then it’s really not a big leap to just add a xim mouse to it.

Why cant you play with PC from couch? Ive done that plenty times.

Wat? If you can play with m+kb why dont you? If you have good computer, good accessories, fast and stable connection and good settings ingame you will have huge advantage over someone playing 30fps with 150ms+ using the tiniest mouse mat and speakers without mic.

Sure, but that’s just the way the internet works, and the guy with the tiny mouse chose to use that knowing others don’t.

On a console you’re breaking the rules in a game where everyone is supposed to use controllers, and where they have to break the rules to be able to compete.

I mean I dont play on consoles. But I mean “supposed”? Really? If Id own console and OW on it I would prolly buy a kb+m also and use controller for chill games only. Or use controller for QP. I cant see why not use kb+m for comp.

Overwatch doesn’t support mouse and keyboard in-game, that control method is disabled on purpose by Blizzard. In order to use them you need to buy an emulator that violates the terms of use.

Oh ok. I didnt know that.

Because it’s not forbidden. Nobody cares if Blizzard doesn’t want it to happen when everyone knows the next person might be doing it as well.
