A 5 stack and a solo queue. I go healer as the pre-made instapick dps (surprise, surprise). I’m not a great healer but I do ok and it’s better than no healer. The 5 stack start flaming me for not healing, yet they are mainly getting killed by Widow or Doomfist. I end up with 5 reports. This has happened a few times albeit with differing group sizes but the concept is the same.
Blizzard bemoan people calling out their staff but I challenge them to provide a reasonable explanation on how, giving a toxic community the power to self govern in this way, is acceptable?
You see, this is the issue. The report system is complete trash. Even if you get reported by 5 people, the system won’t do anything. Even IF you would’ve been throwing, nothing would’ve happened. If you didn’t throw and it did something then it would’ve been a false punishment…
Automation is the worst in this type of game because it’s being abused and due to that they have to put such high tressholds on the amount of reports needed.
Please keep in mind that in case you do get penalized, you can appeal the decision by submitting a ticket if you believe it wasn’t issued correctly. A Game Master may lift the penalty if appropriate.
Trust me, I’ve been there. You do get banned based on these community reports. It may be as a result of a review but it’s triggered by the reports. All they have to do is find 1/2 incidents when you lost it and flamed and they will ban you. So unless you are a saint then you’ll get banned in the end, or unless you only play “acceptable” characters and never communicate. That is the community that Blizzard has fostered. A team game where communication and team-play is not encouraged.
Personally, I don’t care about being flamed or people being toxic. I can accept it if I lose and move on. What they need to sort out is throwers, leavers and insta-pick DPS trolls that will not switch off no matter how badly or hard countered they are.
Unfortunately, Blizzard are only concerned with hand-holding and some idyllic community where everyone is friendly and plays happily together regardless of the result!
I would suggest you not to lose your time with this whole apeal fiesta. It doesn’t work. The code you accepted by getting in the game is written in a way that you can never be innocent.
The big problem with the report system is that people can report you for literally nothing.
People should NOT be reported for not being the best healer ever, at least not in quickplay or arcade. But you sadly have a lot of immature people, both kids and adults, adults can be worse than a 5 years old when anonymous on the Internet, playing this game, and the system kinda forces you to endure them.
On the other side, stay the hell out of competitive if you don’t plan to get seriously involved. If you are a slacker in competitive, you’ve nothing to do there.
Appeals don’t work. The only way to overturn a ban is making big stink on forums/reddit. Then Blizzard decides that the reputation hit is worse than keeping you banned.
Exactly, you can be banned for “daring to question” the “stack” of players… suddenly if you queue into that stack a few times in an evening, that’s dozens of false reports .
But they don’t. They just look at the number of reports, and uphold the ban.
No investigation, no context, no reasonable punishment.
When I appealed I was not asked about any particular reports, I was not given opportunity to explain. As a customer that has spent over £200 pound across multiple accounts and over 150 on the banned one… That is ridiculous.
There are players using hate speech, racism sexism, cheats and wintrading… I get banned for upsetting players, because I asked if they could swap.
The issue, players think being asked to swap means they are playing poorly. But all it means is they are countered. So they report you for abusive chat… A threshold is hit and an automated system punishes you.
What? Blizzard have always been like this. Always catering towards the majority and the casuals. Their idea of limitless reporting has been around for a long time and was one of the reasons Heroes of the Storm eventually self-destructed.
Yeah i got susspended for exactly same thing like you are mentioned here. I posted a ticked and within few hours i got an email that ticket was changed to resolved and closed. I start up my browser and what i saw? Nothing was resolved at all so i went on online chat support and that guy said even if i get many of false reports for asking players to switch or asking for heals they cant lift susspension because they have also a few reports where i lost my temper and called few guys and idiot and R*rd because they were insulting my girlfriend with stuff "leave that guy and come fk with me" or “can i play with you in person?” they are still playing because my GF seeing them in comps and me too. Also about banning for cheating i played competitive today and there was a guy named Saber, he plays tracer and he is in silver. i played against that guy few weeks ago on my main account and he is still in the game using aimbot with tracer and iam not able to play because i was defending my gf and recieved false reports… WOW blizzard policies are really something. Jeff said “if you are a bad person we dont want you in overwatch” but overwatch is full of bad persons and good persons getting banned or susspended for false reports and loosing temper with pervert guys.
