Returning player on a new account after abandoning ship when Blizzard announced Overwatch 2.
Community issues at the time.
- Getting racial slurs thrown left and right and occasionally death threats
-- Still a thing and probably as was the norm back than, the wrong people will get banned.
- People locking heroes they want to play, even when it greatly imbalances the team composition using: “you can’t tell me how to play” or “you can’t tell me how I should have fun”.
–Still happens pretty much every match, people don’t seem to get that their own individual fun can come at the expense of 4-5 other team mate’s fun being ruined. Let me hard lock my 10% accuracy rating widow maker against a double barrier comp.
- People confusing eliminations for kills and using this as a statistic to portray themselves as the better player.
*-- Still a thing, eliminations are assists and bare minimum assistance is required to get a number. It’s a mechanic introduced to give everyone the feeling they’re contributing and doing something good. It kind of is Activision Blizzard’s staple over rewarding minimum input for a false sense of progression. Call of duty is really good at doing this.
In the end, I’m* astounded *how the community still operates like this, knowing fully well there are better alternatives to Overwatch on the market now. The fact there are barely any skins available for newer heroes like Vendetta tells me that game is on the decline and hardly has had proper development attention for a while. With recent Microsoft’s Xbox lay-offs and reorganizations happening, I can only assume the worst for Overwatch. This game dying, is mostly a community driven cause rather than a development issue. The game in its core is still amazing, it’s the clown show around it that really makes it a bad experience.
I have to constantly die and lose matches, so you can play the hero you like the most and do absolutely nothing to contribute to the fight.
I can’t say anything about that or risk getting suspended, banned, lowered in endorsement.
