Comparing Ana and Baptiste

I’m just curious, how they are going to release this character?
Ana’s heal - 70 per shot, small projectile for a single target, easy to miss
Baptiste heal - 60 per shot easy to land aoe
Ana - no mobility at all
Baptiste - great vertical mobility without a cooldown
Ana primary fire - 70 damage per shot, no headshot multiplier
Baptiste primary fire - 75 per round, headshots - yes
Ana can heal yourself only with nade and for 100
Baptiste - 150 aoe healing for him and teammates
Antinade can help to save your teammates and is good when used offensively, but it is not nearly as impactful as an immortality drone
Ultimates can be called even, disregarding the fact that baptiste can give all your team insane damage output increase

How it is not broken?

You are comparing two things that cannot be compared, Ana is good in her domain and Baptiste in his own.

Heal- Ana heals is sure easy to miss but Baptiste heal is a projectile who lob and will lose range no matter what, so Ana heal is better if you want to stay in long range while Baptiste will be better in mid-close range.

Damage- Again Ana win the range war and unlike Baptiste she doesn’t suffer from a recoil or falloff range.

Self Heal- Both Ana and Baptiste can’t heal themselves with their ammo so they have to use their abilities, Ana sure heal herself only with 100 but its instant and with a heal buff while Baptiste is a 150 heal in 5 second who can easily be outhealed with a burst of damage, beside the teammates have to be close to you when you press the key, they will not be healed if they join you after the ability activation.

Escape tool- While Baptise rely on his mobility, Ana use one of the strongest CC of the game: The Sleep dart well use it can destroy any threat and allow Ana to run away to safety.

Abilities- Sure Baptiste abilities and Ultimate are amazing but both can be destroyed/hacked by Sombra while Ana nade can only be countered by Mei cryo-stase and the nanoboost cannot be canceled once its activated.

Long story short, both have strong point and weak point and they cannot be compared cause they do not fit in the same situations.

Ana is better at least she can actually kill and defend herself bap doesn’t at all he dies faster than he protect his team

Ana can stay a bit behind her team, putting her a) in a safer spot and b) in a position where she can more easily evaluate the entire situation.
Baptiste on the other hand will have to be in the thick of it for his LShift and a bit behind his team for his right click.

Ana has a solid 70 damage with pinpoint accuracy, allowing her to deal with her little girl, or a Widow, or an aggressive Lucio - because you can reasonably hit those targets.
Baptiste has 25 damage, additional shots will only hit if the recoil doesn’t do too much, the target is stationary or a huge close up tank. Yeah, if he spots a Widow that doesn’t spot him, he can do 150 damage with a single click, but healers aren’t flankers, so catching others off guard isn’t that common. Overall, they both have their advantages when it comes to damage, it really is situational.

Ana’s ult heals, increases damage and makes the target more damage resistant.
Baptiste’s ult doubles the damage of those people using it. While doubling damage is huge, it’s also situational. When the enemy knows where the Offense Matrix is (yes, that’s how it’s called now), they might sidestep it.

Or as others put it more succinctly: you can’t compare the two - one time, Ana will be better, the other time Bap will.

I saw many of his gameplay videos on youtube
Is it just me or does his healing kinda suck? sure it’s short spurts of Aoe… but teammates were mostly insta dying post 3 seconds even after all the heal spams at them… weird. i think it can only be effective if it’s coupled with invincibility ing and that AEO heal along with lob

did you get a look at his cooldowns compared to ana?
Now thats broken

Healing is op on grenade launcher. the main gun with the DPS burst is not. in my opinion and this is someone coming from only playing rated most of the time on 28 heros and than played baptiese. the DPS burst gun does less damage than a sombra or a tracer. if it can’t keep him self alive a team won’t be alive either that relies on healing. sure overwatch league has players showing baptiese being op but to a regular player that means absolutely nothing and it’s no where near ready for a game debut. it’s broken severely needs a massive re work and I’d be embarrassed having that in any of my regular rated games I’d honestly take a nerf Lucio and a broken mercy instead.

Baptiste will have a similar positionning to Ana at high ranks it seems, high ground and a bit back behind the team (mid/long range) so lobbing grenades from a distance might be really hard.

Catch Baptiste without his cooldowns (15 and 20 sec) or teammates to protect him and he’s good as dead.

Immortality field is easily countered if not positionned properly.

Both characters have a very high skill cap but they are not comparable.

On top of that, healing airborne targets with Baptiste is much harder than it is for Ana

Imagine trying to heal Pharah mid-air with Baptiste’s grenades

Just jump up and use his Shift, You can’t miss! :upside_down_face:
