Connected to the Middle Eastern servers from Norway

I live in Norway and just played a match of competitive where all of my teammates were Middle Eastern and I had 160 ping all match. Experiencing this really makes me not want to queue up for comp again, so I’m wondering if anyone is aware of why this is happening and if something will be done about it. I was playing support and my queue was less than 2 minutes, so I don’t see any reason to put me in a game on the ME servers.

Same issue here. I’m from The Netherlands and they connect me to the server in
the Middle east while we have one in Amsterdam.

Same i’m from algeria which is supposed to be part of that region too,but my country is much closer to EU and i used to have constant 70 ms,now i have 133 ms

Really? From Norway? I’m from Iraq and I can’t even get in Middle Eastern servers! I’m still stuck in EU but I’m not complaining I really love the EU region for its people and I have a stable 100ms ping sometimes lower in it because my ISP in Iraq focuses on latency more than speeds (which is weird but it’s good for gamers so whatever lol) I’d probably have around 20 ping in Middle Eastern servers but it’s a trade off for match quality as Middle Easterners are really toxic (That’s if I even figure out how to get in the ME servers in the first place) I hope Blizzard makes an easy way to just choose either EU or ME

i’m from germany and for some reason, i’m getting connected to middle east servers as well.
experiencing input lag and a ping of ~150 instead of the usual ~65.
anybody got an idea why this is happening?
in the launcher i have “Europe” selected, as i always had.
it seems to me that something is not working the way it should.

greetings from germany

Costumer support is nowhere…

i figured there is a way to switch back to EU servers, and thats from creating a custom game and then in the lobby settings u’ll find an option where you have to select which server to play, idk if it works, but thats the only thing we have for now

I’m from Norway and the devs thinks MIDDLE EASTERN countries are located in Europe, they need to check a map, I’m keep getting forced in to the terrible servers, 150ping and non-english speaking arabs. Feelsbadman.

I’m from the NORTH WEST OF FRANCE and I just got put on a middle east server in comp (me1).
Simply infuriating.

Im in the UK and whenever I wanna play games after midnight I get 50-75% of my games in a middle eastern server, as much as I love teammates who speak a different language, I can’t deal with the constant 150+ ping and the extra toxicity. FIX THIS BLIZZARD PLEASE!

Hi guys,

I would very much like to nail this down, but largely we’ve not received sufficient information from those effected to get traction on it. I would very much need from as many people as possible:

Thus far any time we’ve asked we’ve either not had a reply, or received a reply without the requested information. This time lets see if we can get a good amount of all the information within a 72hr window and get this sorted together

This is specifically for EU players being connected to ME servers erroneously

Sure, I’ll give you the information, please fix asap. I hate playing with a high ping, it ruins my games. If we have EU servers I should always connect to those if I’m Switzerland, especially if I have the correct region selected in the launcher.

Party: yes, but in the same appartment as me in Switzerland
Date & Time: 19.5.20 in the afternoon and 20.5 between 12:00 and 13:10
ISP: Init7
Connection: Fiber, symmetrical gigabit
Lookingglas report:

hastebin com / cogosuheto.rb

I am getting the same at the moment, frustrating 200 ping when I usually get 30 in the UK.

  • Party: No, solo queue.
  • 02:30 23/5/2020
  • Plusnet
  • Wired to router, Fibre connection.
  • Your Looking Glass report: pastebin com/hAHCFTQw
  • Your Traceroute: pastebin com/hAHCFTQw

Both reports in the same pastebin above.

Same problem.
I live in the Netherlands, No proxy or vpn. Just normal queuing on EU servers. This happened to me over 10 times already and I keep losing matches like this. There is a server in Amsterdam.

Matchcode: N58GM5
Ping: 162
Time: around 1:30
Date: 8 June 2020
Connection: Wired, Stable Coax 400/40
Internet provider: Ziggo
Solo queue.

Do they turn off servers in Europe late at night? Because I rather queue 20 minutes than being in a match I know I am going to lose anyway.

This still keeps happening from EU. I just did a traceroute and a looking glass report, happy to share it with anyone from customer support in private. According to netgraph I was connected to a server in the “mes1” region while not in a party.

I play at multiple households about 15 miles apart on different providers in the UK. I also play at vastly different times and still reguluary get put into 150ms+ lobbies where the majority of the players are arabic. Its also game that doesnt feel appropirate for the rank when playing on EU servers. BAD EXPERIENCE.

same here. from north Germany no idea why joins the middle east server with 156 Latency! why Blizzard why!!!

Same here i live in norway and i have 160 ping.

Hi, im in UK and normally get put on france or amsterdam server and today im on mes1 with 176 ping, have the overwatch gods smited us?

Hi, issue still ongoing as it sees. I’ve got a 70% chance to get a 250+ms ping, playing from Germany in the evening (5pm to 11pm).

Infos:

  • Party as well as solo-queue
  • it has been happening for 2 weeks
  • ISP: Pyur
