Dear Overwatch Team,
You already know what this message is about. You’ve seen the reports. You’ve read the feedback. And if you’ve played even a few matches on console in the last few months, you’ve felt it yourself:
Overwatch on console is breaking.
I’m not writing this as just another frustrated player. I’m writing this as someone who has loved this game since the beginning. Someone who remembers the magic of that first win, the chaos of overtime, the rush of nailing that perfect play. I’m writing this as someone who knows what Overwatch used to feel like, and knows what it’s becoming now.
And the truth is… it’s becoming unrecognizable.
Let’s not dance around it: third-party devices like XIM are flooding console servers. They’re not rare anymore. They’re not hiding in the shadows. They’re everywhere. You banned them once, in April 2024, and it worked. The difference was instant, powerful, and unforgettable. Console finally felt fair. Skill mattered again. Players could trust the matchmaker, their inputs, their instincts.
But that peace didn’t last.
The cheaters came back, more aggressive, more common, and more normalized than ever. They’re not just exploiting the game. They’re redefining it. And if that sounds dramatic, it’s because it should. Because the truth is, console Overwatch is reaching a critical point. Players are either giving up… or giving in.
No one wants to cheat. But when cheating becomes the norm, morality becomes a disadvantage.
And this? This isn’t just hurting gameplay. It’s eroding the spirit of Overwatch. The game that once inspired fairness, teamwork, and creative problem-solving is slowly turning into a war of hardware. And those who don’t adapt are being pushed out.
You may think, “We’ve already addressed this.” But I promise you, what’s happening now is different. This isn’t just a spike. It’s a takeover. The longer it goes unanswered, the more it cements itself as the new normal. And the more players you’ll quietly lose, not to new games, but to quiet disappointment.
I’m not asking for miracles. I’m asking for momentum.
You did it once. You can do it again. You proved that Blizzard still knows how to protect its players. Don’t let that effort go to waste. Don’t let fair players become relics in their own game.
We don’t want special treatment. We want a level field. That’s not too much to ask.
And if nothing is done… then one day soon, someone will log into console Overwatch and realize they don’t recognize anyone anymore, not because of usernames, but because everyone left is either cheating… or learning how.
Don’t let it come to that.
With respect,
A player who still believes Overwatch is worth fighting for.
