Cost of skins in OW2

I would call myself a form of whale for companies who sell skins and optionals… but the cost of stuff in OW2 is absolutely absurd. I’ve spent thousands on extras from Blizzard over the years and I fully intended to pay for skins in OW2. But the cost is not even funny. I’m half-thinking the price scaling is an error, but I don’t think it is. I want the Vampire Bat Echo at 1900 coins but that will cost me around £14 for a single skin, of which there are hundreds. I cannot warrant that even in my company-supportive brain. I really want to buy a bunch of skins but there is far too much guilt. One skin costs 2x battle pass? It needs to be changed. They are surely losing more than they are making even if a few people are buying. It’s a lose-lose for them, not earning as much money and making customers unhappy, I am trying to fathom their thinking but surely they can’t be that greedy and out of touch?

What are other peoples’ opinions? Did anyone happily pay for skins with real money yet? I must say I’m so glad I played OW1 and I have an abundance of skins on my account.

Other than the battle pass I’ve not bought anything. I’m not big on expensive skins but I know that if they made a really nice one for a hero I love I’d buy it.

I can see that - buying one skin for a much-loved hero. But what about the ‘bad’ skins that cost 500? They are just going to waste.

Activision knows what they are doing, wait until the Microsoft deal goes through.

I kinda hoped going into OW2 that the battle pass would be the only form of monetization, I’d be more than happy to pay for it if that was the case. But the fact that there’s a store as well has put me off giving them any money.

I mean, look at the store, they’re selling OW1 skins for 1900 coins and old highlight intros for 700 coins, on top of packs of new skin sets for 1500/2000 coins. It’s so egregious, it would literally cost a couple hundred quid to get everything and some of them used to be obtainable for free!

That’s why I’m glad I got skins in OW1. I’ve got SO MANY SKINS for free, they gave me good memories and feelings, and the new system makes me not want to buy any even though I want to give money. I just refuse to give it when they demand so much.

It costs adequate price, look at Apex Legends, LoL, etc.
Battle pass is a great deal, it’s cheap and has new unique skins. That’s why other skins are that expensive

yep thats why i am not spending a single penny on the game.

In world of warcraft, they charge £9 for… pets… £19 for mounts, they charge stupid prices for pretty much everything so im not at all surprised.

nearly £9 a month for battlepass is not cheap at all.

it’s 9 euro for 9 weeks

i thought they were monthly. but still, they do charge silly amounts. i dont think battlepasses are even worth it.

It won’t change anything. Microsoft is allowing Activision Blizzard to continue as is because they perform well.

Unfortunately not really any news, skins and cosmetics in “free to play” games has been the business model for greedy companies for years: League of Legends, Fortnite etc. Unless we start standing up for what is right and what is wrong it will only continue and get worse, we must stop buying cosmetics (although many won’t) and show them that we don’t want this anymore. No microtransactions. You buy the game and then that’s it.

your the only one that thinks the battlepas is good value , everything in it is just fluff with skins every 10 lvls , no coins just backgrounds , voicelines and general rubbish

I think it’s fine to have that model, but the price could be halved and I bet more than double the people start buying because of it. I do not understand the pricing at all.
