It’s still no indicator that a hero is balanced. You said it yourself. Mei, sombra etc are situational. That doesn’t mean they are weak or strong.
Your confusing my words. Mei’s strong at certain scenarios, but beyond it she’s not a hero that you play in every situation, hence her lower pick rate.
Its not only pick rate that matters its pick rate/win rate.
That’s exactly what I said.
So if Brig was exceedingly strong at all scenarios she would have a higher pick rate than she does now. She is clearly not strong in all situations and hence you notice a distribution in the pick rates. In the 3% tier in GM you now have Brig, Genji and Tracer spread out.
You really need to get out of this pick rate hole.
Why should I? That’s factual arguments. It’s a more realistic argument to base your discussions around. Because pick rates don’t come into existence with 10 or 20 players playing the game. It’s a result of millions of players playing it.
Let’s just pretend there is a hero that makes a team win 100% of the time in 50% of the maps (or even less than 50%)
The pick rate wouldn’t be 100% because the hero would be useless in other maps. You mean that this hero wouldn’t be broken in some kind because the pick rate is not high?
It just goes to say that certain heroes have their strengths in certain maps. Which is why the comp ladder rotates around a number of maps while granting ratings.
You didn’t answer as usual. “Would the hero be not broken in some kind?” yes or no.
Brigit has 6.08% pick rate 56.50% win rate
Tracer has 2.79% pick rate 54.01% win rate
Genji has 2.73% pick rate 55.20% win rate
This are the stats from 1% of ow’s player base.
Take a look at all ranks or qp you will see them drastically change in favor of the easier heroes.
When a hero has a 100% pick rate in 50% of the maps, and what 0% at the remaining 50% of the maps her overall pick rate will come down to 50%. Meaning that that hero is super good on certain maps and super bad on yet other maps.
But yet again these 100% pick rates in 50% of the maps was a hypothetical gesture.
Over the last week brig’s pick rate at GM was 3% not 6%, and her win rate was 54.97%, not 56.50%.
And yes as you go down the ladder she has a higher pick rate simply because she’s easier to play and not many people know how to counter her hard enough yet.
No, it means that the hero has problems, because according to your definition. The hero is a mustpick and without you lose on some maps. Which would make this hero OP and needed for a nerf.
I was proving a point with a made up hero using your own rules of pickrates.
Do you realize that your pickrate for everything argument is a faulty stance when it comes to balancing? Especially for such a game.
You see what you did their Toupher. You just concluded things for yourself, and tried to make it look like the truth
If a hero is exceedingly good on certain maps making her a must pick on that map, but she’s weak on other maps making her never picked in those maps it means she’s very strong on certain maps and not on other maps.
She is easier to play in every rank.
And everyone already knows how to counter her after a few months. That was never the issue.
???
I never said she wasn’t easy to play. She sure is… So what has that got to do with anything?
That everyone can play her because of her low skill ceiling and skill floor. They all play pretty much the same from pros to amateurs. There is not much to learn from her playstyle. And yes a GM would be better than a bronze player but not by much because there is simply not much to her.
And so ? What if she’s easy to play and that every one can pick her up with few hours ?
You said her pick rate gets higher because she is easy to play in lower ranks, which is wrong.
