Hey, I have an idea which I’d like some feedback on.
What if the game had daily challenges to increase people’s hero pool. What I mean by this is adding challenges for specific heroes with currency rewards in order to make players want to learn other heroes. At the moment, especially in competitive, a lot of people refuse to switch off of their mains when they’re being countered because they either can’t or don’t want to play any other hero. Adding daily challenges such as “Get 3 environmental kills as Roadhog” for example would make people want to play a more diverse range of heroes.
This kind of feature is already in Hearthstone with the Daily Quests, encouraging the player to try other classes or play styles in-game.
You must be kidding. You don’t want people in competitive to play something they don’t know how to. Now with this proposed change we’ll get players who choose a Widow without having any experience on her simply to get more skins? No, keep this to QP only.
Sounds good, but I agree that it cannot be in comp. The thing is that you need to give some rewards that pleaple want. We already have achievents and they are not popular because people dont care about sprays. Maybe golgen gun points would be a decent reward. I know that some people were playing placements just because golden guns. This could be another way of getting golden guns without ruining comp
1st this will make it worst…
Imagen if people play’d that hero not because they are good at it but because of a quest…
And not swapping because of a quest… or ignoring comps because of a quest.
Getting a quest like Win 2 games as sym might as well be calld troll in 2 games. And what will happen when the tank one tricks have to play DPS?.. yeah no ty.
Hero diversity happens from balance.
I think it was ment to make players more flexible (not make the game diverse). You cannot make the player base more flexible if you dont want support mains playing dps… I agree, that this cannot be in comp, but in other gamemodes it is fine. If you make the quest win two games as Sym, players would actually try to win (because if they dont, they wount have the quest finished). And I think that it is still better to have a sym that is trying to win than domeone that doesnt care about the game result
A role queue, and a ban phase will make the game more flexible.
Especially a ban phase. That way, people might want to learn more then 1 hero for when that set hero is ban’d.
I play all three roles, I want to be able to switch them during a game. When I see that my team sucks I want to be able to switch from a Zenyatta to a better carry, not being stuck supporting tools. In fact I suspect that the number of support players will drop if role queue is enforced unless they are getting bonuses like in Heroes of the Storm.
If you want to balance out pick rates, we need 16 different support heroes and 16 different tank heroes to go with the ridiculous 16 different DPS heroes. Then you can look at the stats without being blatantly ignorant and in denial about the simple truth that if you can only pick one of 6 heroes, you will by nature have more people picking any of the 6 than if you can pick between 16. The vast majority (70%) of games in GM (maths happened in a different thread) are done with a 2-2-2, which is a healthy comp. You need 2 tanks, because 1 tank alone gets melted, you need 2 healers, because someone has to heal the healer, so you can’t get away from 2-2-2. Once you’re there, obviously healers look like they’re picked more, because there are so few of them!
So I agree with wicked: the next 19 heroes have to be only tanks and supports, because we need hero diversity.
That’s painful reading. 38% of the heroes make up 70% of the game.
Oh I agree but that’s a core failure of this game I believe, they added so many point click dps heroes and not many real tanks. They would want to do things equally so yes they would have tank challenges but they would also have dps hero challenges as well, if it wasn’t randomised individually then you would see the same heroes for a week on end.
I like the idea, but as others have stated it should probably be kept to arcade and quickplay only.
If they are hero specific dailies, then obviously they will need to be randomised for every player to prevent people instalocking a certain character.
I would even welcome more generalised daily quests like “Escort payload on payload maps for a total of five minutes” or “Win three games with a support character” - things that could encourage teamplay and encourage players to at least try different roles.
You don’t even know what diversity means… You think rolls need to be perfect yet DPS is just deleted from this game atm you pick dps once your team wants to run goats and your reported and people only wanna run goats… So im looking at Hero picks not role picks…
Its funny how they are no dps getting picked and your fine with that and yet talking about diversity…
Try GM for 1 week, you’ll want to smurf by the end of it…
Just the fact that Rein Zarya Lucio D.va are in every game kill’d this game for 90% of its players…
Imagine not having to Face Rein Lucio D.va Zarya every damn game.
Like i’m fine with facing them 5 out of 10 games but its like 8/10 at good days…
You can’t even pick dps because all you do is shoot vs shields and reload vs matrix and bubbles…
Not to mention that every ult fight is a lose vs Lucio Rein and Zarya unless you have them on your team.
Sometimes i wish Overbuff collected info on how many % of games heroes are getting played. How many % they swap etc… It just collects % compared to other heroes…
Just found a screen shot from season 3-5 or something like that.
A bit ironic how Rein Lucio are at the top. Do bad i was a pleb and didn’t take any from GM at that time…
Again, dear Wicked: do you want every hero picked about equally? Do you want 25% of games without healers? Do you want 20% of games without tanks? Because that’s what you’d get if all heroes were picked as often as the others.
