Can’t blizzard afford to pay a dedicated team of devs for linux porting of OW (and other battle.net game)?
I mean, It’s frustrasting that you have to troubleshoot issues trying to run a win game. I think every videogames company should follow what Valve started.
They can.
They just don’t want to.
They didn’t want to do console… but it was easy money.
Let x be the additional amount of money a company can make by providing a Linux port.
Let y be the cost for developing and maintaining a linux port.
If x < y, it’s not a wise business decision to do.
For example, Rocket League had a dedicated Linux and MacOS port. They stopped it in 2018 or so, because 99.7% of players played on Windows. It cost more money to maintain those ports than it brought in.
