Degradation of Endorsement

Can we get more details about how your endorsement degrades?
I already find out how to get promotion (Level 5 for 1 week now) :crazy_face:

What I do Know:

  • When you leave games (even in the assemble time)
  • When you get reports

And the most interesting part for me :

Is there any decay, if so, how does it work?

  • Not getting 1 endorsement in 10 games
  • Don’t play for 10 days
  • Will I drop down, when I get a disconnect after being for 1 month on level 5

I understand that the endorsement is also under construction, but it would be nice if we can get more details about consequences, also because I like to keep this level. :slight_smile:

I can assure you that there is a decay:

MAINTAINING YOUR ENDORSEMENT LEVEL
Your endorsement level can decrease if you do not continue to receive endorsements or leave games before they’re finished. Punishments within the reporting system may also strip players of their endorsement level and place them at level 0.

How that exactly decays is still a mystery.

I think it might be helpful to use a second account and record all endorsements and level ups. We could then find out how much endorsements you need for each level and how many endorsements it takes to get a level back when it has decayed

This was what I needed last week to reach level 5:

Shot caller - 154
Good Teammate - 499
Sportsmanship - 326

Total : 979

Included: a fall down from 4 to 3, because of leaving games, when assemble the team ( what used to be ok )

In that time i was writing on the US part of the forum instead…

There were also shown ways to view the amount of endorsement.

I went down from 4 to 3 because i got disconnected. The thing is, i got disconnected from a game because there weren’t enough players and it still counted towards the degradation for some reason. Short after that i just couldn’t connect at all getting an unexpected server error.

Thank you, so it seems like you need some amount of endorsement, in some amount of games, to stay on your current level.

But, the chance that I earn endorsement from the opposite team, will be low if I play a 100 games in a row, with 5 friends.

On my main it feels like im hard stuck @ 5.
I went to 5 really fast in about 2 days but a week later im still at 5 and i drop’ed 1 level from 4 to 3 from what i can only think its false reporting or maybe i left a game. I never really leave games is the punishment for leaving a qp game that much at the moment ? Maybe its a mix or one leave and some reports idk. all i know is that it feels x10 times harder then level 4 to 5. And it sucks since you get forced to play out of your preference for to long as it seems. Feeling on tank and support is fun but not for to long hope it gets easier to keep high endorse. Since when you play widow and you don’t solo carry people will report you even if its a close lose.
And i really wanna know what happens when 6 players go in a qp game and all 6 dps.
At that point whats better, to leave and lose endorsement or to stay and report everyone and get reported by everyone youself since it will be a lose.
I just wanna know if its better to pick a 6th dps or leave that game for my endorse level. I ain’t supporting or tanking in a 5 dps team that things a nightmare and its bad that overwatch still lets people pick more then 4 dps in a game and on top of everything people don’t really endorse when they lose so you’re still not getting anything for doing good but still losing tanks to factors you can’t control like what your 5 other dps player’s are doing.

A report counter on your profile would be nice, not that I really want to see my amount of reports XD (since I am > level 1200), but at least you can keep an overview or see the source of a penalty.

For me it did feel like you needed the double amount of endorsement, compared to the previous level, to get to the next level.

I stay in the game and follow the team with an other dps and give the endorsement to healers/tanks in the other team (if nothing really special did happen).

But you can control who you promote for that wanted behavior and don’t forget that you get XP for giving endorsement, which makes me think it is a desirable behavior.

Yeah report tracking will be nice.
When i got the game i remember seeing a message that read something like.
“hay some player recently reprot you please be good or we will punish you” or something like that and it was helpful but as it is now i haven’t seen that message pop in more than a year.

Update: I remember the message it read “your recent behavior isn’t on par with other player.” meaning you got reported.

I did see one it once, it was not about reports, but I was about the endorsement drop.

I dont know if my source is still correct, but I did lose 250 endorsement today, and had 2 days ago I had 2097.

Now it is 1176, a hudge difference! I do check this with “Overwatch endorsements viewer”.

UPDATE: Blizztrack does report its a bug
