here is why blizzard does not read posts because it means they gotta do too much work and they don’t care about fan base blizzard is like EA/BIOWARE customer services.
What kind of value does your post add?
So you bought a game for a one-off payment and you expect the company to execute your future instructions too? Good luck finding a company like that. They would do it only if your instructions happened to align with their own plans.
Go to the US forum. The devs are active on that forum. Here, only community managers, moderators and technical support keep watch.
The famous people like Stylosa, the Overwatch Central people and that Mercy celebrity woman are all extremely inept at identifying design flaws and rather spend their time stumbling in the dark, trying to find answers.
It is literally painful for me to listen to Stylosa try to act like he knows what he’s talking about on Mercy. “Err, maybe buff her ult some?”
Then, from what I can tell, the Mercy celebrity woman spends all her time insulting the devs and complaining about toxicity without offering any proper insights. I mean, she might have a point or two hidden away somewhere in her 100+ video library but I personally don’t want to have to search through all that to find that one valid idea that she may have put forward.
Anyway, this is the celebrity thing, where people can’t think for themselves so they have to look up to some person on a stage and nod their heads. I mean, these people have youtube channels so they MUST know what they’re talking about, right?
Anyway, it’s fine… I just find it a bit painful to watch people fail so badly. The world is a big place full of lots of people and I don’t expect Blizz to look through every post and listen to every idea, but there are some really good ones out there and since Blizz are clearly struggling to do their jobs, they should really consider listening and taking on board the good suggestions— and I mean the GOOD suggestions, rather than the ramblings of “celebrities” and the mountains of troll posts.
Is it because the “community” doesn’t know how to spell and punctuate correctly?
EeveeA?
Oh, Aria Rose
I don’t think they have any serious issues from a design perspective. There might be transitional periods that feel bad and imbalanced but that’s part of the process.
However, they seem to have a shortage of tech people. That is the usual case for a lot of game dev companies.
Something that sounds good might not actually be that good when implemented and played. Ideas aren’t very useful in general, especially those that might go against the design principles of the game designers.
If someone can show basic competence in game design on the US forum then he might have more chance to influence the design than those who register here to use their zeroth post to whine about Blizz not doing what they want.
I think EeveeA is a man, and I have respect for his opinion, as he actually breaks down why his ideas are good and will fix the issues, and he actually does identify the flaws in the design to begin with, at least when it comes to Mercy. That’s because he plays her, unlike Stylosa who even says himself “I can’t play Mercy”.
Well, we can agree to disagree on that, because Mercy has been in a transitional period for a long time now and after a point it just looks like they’re stumbling in the dark on it.
Maybe, and if their intention is to truly have a “starter” support hero who can’t advance via skill expression then Mercy is currently fitting the bill, but that’s bad design imo. Heroes should have room to express skill and climb higher, rather than reaching a relatively low plateau. Too much about Mercys kit right now supports the idea of this plateau, and I don’t think any other hero in the roster does this to this extent. People say “Well Soldier is a starter hero for DPSers”, but Soldier has a lot of room to advance. If you can perfect your aiming, you can make a massive difference to the battle. Unfortunately, Mercy isn’t doing that now. You’ve got to allow for skill expression or it’s bad design, unless that’s Blizzards intention as you’ve suggested, but if that’s the case I don’t support that philosophy.
EeveeA WAS a man she’s a woman
