Different sens for different heroes

Conventional wisdom has it that you should stick with the same sensitivity for all heroes, otherwise it messes with your “muscle memory”. However, plenty of pros use different sensitivities for different heroes. So what do you think the best thing to do is?

Personally I think so long as there are no major differences, you should be okay. All the heroes play differently and require different hand movement as it is, so one could argue you’re “ruining” your muscle memory by playing different heroes anyway.

I think it’s personal preference but here’s my experience:

I used to play mostly Soldier and my sensitivity is 3 at 1300 DPI. Because I also flex every now and then (i like flexxing), I tried a higher sensitivity on characters that need higher sensitivity (Tracer, Rhein, Mercy etc.). In terms of muscle memory I immediately noticed my ‘precious’ aim was off when I switched back to Soldier after playing a lot of those other heroes. This scared the sh1t out of me and I gave up on the higher sense.

Fast forward to now: because Soldier wasn’t really working for me lately (in this meta) I started to play a lot of other heroes. Also, I wanted to master Tracer so much for a while, I just had to try again because as Tracer you really need a bit of higher sens due to the fast turns you need to do while blinking. So currently I have this (all with 1300 dpi):
Genji 4.5
Pharah 5
Mercy 5
Sym 5
Rheinhardt 5
Tracer 4.5
Widowmaker 3.5
Winston 5
Everything else 3

Now that’s %$^!@ up in terms of muscle memory but somehow after practicing those different levels of sensitivity I seemed to get used to it and having higher sens on characters that really need it (like Pharah, Tracer, Mercy) really improved my gameplay while I still seem to be able to play Soldier (and other heroes) with 3. It’s so noticable, no more slow turns/peeks. Though I gotta say I probably can’t overdo it (like 6+ sens) because I believe that will become a problem.

So to tldr: if you’re on low sens, use different settings on characters if you can afford/get used to it.
