So what’s the deal with comp points and two different queues?
Lets say in role queue you place Gold on Tank and Damage, and Plat on Support.
Also, you place Plat on open queue.
At the end of the season, you will gain 100 (Tank) + 100 (DPS) + 200 (Support) + 500 (open queue) = 900 competitive points
did I understand you correctly: I get more rewards if I play different roles & queues (even in bronze) instead on focusing exact role in exact queue to get to the higher division (platinum)?
Kinda.
3 Bronzes will get you 75 total. If instead you play only one role but get gold, you will get 100.
It all depends on how good you are.
But basically, yes, playing more than one role/hero is normally encouraged, that’s the way OW was designed initially. Blizz wanted people to adapt to the situation and pick what’s needed.
It turns out though that if you have 1000h in OW playing 10 different heroes, you have 100h on each, and will be at a huge disadvantage against a one trick or two trick player, because that one will have 500h or 1000h on that particular hero.
Thank’s for explaining bonus math.
In my opinion, which is based on my OV experience - by playing different roles, person (average) acquires better general understanding about game mechanics. I mean wider eyesight opens new perspectives on the same thing. Though mastering main role & champ (small pool) is no less important thing.
For newbies I’d recommend first option - playing diff roles, while more advanced should focus on mastering particular role and few champs.
Prolly then Bruce Lee’s advice will become meaningful - “I am not afraid of a person who knows 10000 kicks. But I am afraid of a person who knows one kick but practices it for 10000 times.”
I want to be able to que for all 4 types of comp at once how hard could that be?
Write the code yourself and send it to blizzard then?
I know that we get separate points from Role queue but I was just wondering if you also get points if you also play Open queue and it looks like we do so nice
You can find out all about the competitive points by right clicking on role que or open que and clicking on tier legend.
This might also help (easily found searching on Google…).
