Does anyone else find competitive too toxic to play?

Ha! you think thats toxic wait till you see the DF main community, they pretty much have to tea bag after every kill ,it’s like a rain dance to their imaginary god they think blesses them with the “skills” to play DF…

To be fair i have not touched overwatch in a few weeks now… So I do not really know if they are toxic.
But what i do know is that in every game were there is a competitive element there will always be people that will be salty and toxic because they lost a game.
And the fact that they are safe behind there pc’s makes it even easier for those people to be toxic.

someone should really do a comparison video on this, go on a day of playing each game that is considered “toxic” and see which stacks up as the most toxic one.

imo i think overwatch is a bit more toxic than most and it’s really for one reason, it’s a bit more random and a bit more adrenaline pumping than most other team games which gets people all in a tissy making them more prone to lash out.

Tea bagging isn’t toxic though.

If you cry about tea-bagging, simply get help.

how i see teabagging is that it’s not necessarily toxic allways, just uncalled for.
it’s like when you tease your pals, you can do and say a lot more than you could do with strangers.

people just have less patience for strangers when they tease them.

I don’t think it is big, clever or funny… But it is never toxic.

Overwatch and the league put it in their adverts for things… so as far as they are concerned it is just a funny meme,

I like am the second person to have liked this post but i dont even need to look at the others. They will say things like have you ever played Call of duty and other games??? There right this is a love grove compared to them lol x

Sadly. No game is any more or less toxic than this one.

But people will always remember the most recent negative experience and over react.

No way man lol this game may have its moments but I’ve met so many nice players on this. Compared to cod and halo this is so much better. Im not saying it doesnt happen but the hate is low for me

Again. Doesn’t mean it is less toxic.

Sadly it isn’t the game.

It is just a small pool of people that use the internet.

really? cod must have gone down hill past first black ops then, i found cod black ops to be one of the least toxic ones i’ve ever played and i’ve been around for a while, granted black ops was the last cod i played, kinda felt normal military stuff wasn’t my jam after a certain age.

Mate I played call of duty… As in the first one. Yes im old. And that was amazing. From one to 3 and the big Red one. When it all went proper console cod was always toxic. Ive heard peoples mums being called this and hope she dies and all sorts of hateful stuff. I’m not sure what the young guys playing fortnight and stuff are like because i hate those types of games but it doesnt matter if its from BOPS1 2 3 4. Always been toxic. And on pc the biggest cheaters in history. Apart from maybe halo 3 pc back in the day
To be fair though black ops 1 and 2 were pretty sweet with a good community

me too, and i simply didn’t bother with console fps games besides unreal tournament and the obvious golden eye couch glory era.

no wait… i played something that was called MAG on console but that was purely because it was free i think and then it died super fast.

tbh i feel like more people have gotten more entitled and hostile over the years playing online, but apex seems relatively fine toxicity wise, sure your squad might ditch you but who cares? it’s just as ok with or without them.

but yeah could mostly be a console thing because i wouldn’t really know.

but do you know what i miss? Soldier of Fortune 2, that was some good online shootin’
you could cut off limbs and all kinds of stuff post death and there was like voice commands that not everybody knew about and stuff and night vision and thermal goggles at night fights in the jungle, man that game was awesome.

OMG SOF2 was pretty much my first pc online gaming experience. I played most of my games back in the day single player. Even doom and stuff like that. but tbh at that time i don’t think we had internet so doom and quake were single player lol. Aww so glad you said about sof2 man… so cool. But in single player you must have loved… like i did the unreal tournament stuff. It blew my mind. It died after 4 but i guarantee you it will come back as a remaster i bet you 1 million caps lol

yeah i was kinda hoping for a new unreal tournament but… but you know what happened to that right?
they were making it but shutdown development on it in favor of focusing on fortnite.

if that isn’t a kick in the nether i don’t know what is.

that’s why i even bothered with trying out these other fps games in this day and age because i miss my UT2k3 time.
being able to go in and color the models for yourself to mod them basically, fun weapons, cool acrobatic animations and much more.

the only games that have gotten close to that in this day and age so far have been tribes ascend and quake, but both of them are basically dead or dying.
so really the only game i can stand to even play as far as a shooter goes nowadays is apex and even apex kind of irks me.

overwatch? i’m basically just watching what happens to it for fun, stopped playing for a long time now.

The problem is that nowadays you can’t throw a stick in the air without someone getting offended. I mean, just because someone says or does something you don’t like or don’t agree with doesn’t mean they’re abusing you. It’s exaggerated in OW because each team members actions and choices directly affects the other members due to the importance of teamwork and collaboration. Each of us has very specific things that may wind us up. Mine include: DPS that go full Lone Ranger mode nowhere near the core team objective, get destroyed, then complain they’re not getting heals. Healers not healing. Privileged jack-asses that think they can tell other players who they can play. Idiot’s that join open queue and demand 2-2-2 instead of joining role queue where it’s 2-2-2. However, what I don’t do is go full pussa mode and start reporting players for this. At the end of the day people will play how they want o, deal with it. GG

But then you also have the people who say something stupid, then claim “everyone is easily offended”. (not saying this is you btw).

Trick is, in game, just don’t say anything other than basic calls. Unless you are grouped with friends.

unless it’s something positive.
it’s kind of a thing that people who normally become hostile hesitate to be hostile towards you if you’re generally kind to everyone.

it’s just that you can’t really stop others from being hostile to others without picking sides.
doing that just makes one or the other hostile to you.
there’s also the “can’t please everyone” thing too.
sometimes you just have to let people be what they are and let them feel the way they want to feel, no amount of words will change that.

I tend to just say nothing in game.

It is rarely needed in gold.

But I listen. If people are chatting rubbish, I mute. If they are being toxic, I mute. The actual calls are rare, and usually not that helpful.
