Was hyped for the game at release, toxicity made me quit later on.
Was hyped for the new LFG / endorsement (which are great), got back playing but now I got to deal with Doomfist and Birgitte.
I can’t really see anyone except Doomfist/Birgitte players that likes this CC. Are you the 0.1%?

To be honest, I do like CC.
It does feel a bit unfair but it causes tension between fights.
However, some heroes with CC abilities are able to perform “cheap tricks” but those only happen when I do the mistake and let it happen.
CC lead me to be way more cautious about the enemy’s cooldown. You can’t run n’ gun like a maniac anymore and you have to start considering when to engage.
Basically, CC forced me to improve in cognitive skills which is a good thing for me.

Doomfist is my least liked character. I don’t like him on my team because he’s suicidal and I don’t like him on the opponents team because his ground slam feels strange as it sort of pulls me towards him.
I was very pleased to see the addition Brig, what I thought might be a tank/healer, however she is more of a off-heal/DPS/CCer, which is a shame because I don’t really like that kind of gameplay for myself.
So, these heroes don’t make me want to quit or anything, but I definitely don’t like the presence of Doomfist. I am trying to think of ways to fix him but anything I suggest would probably ruin the “fantasy” of playing him. He’s just no fun in almost every regard. I guess the person playing him is having fun, so there’s that??

I recently came back to OW, and the new heroes were a bit tricky getting used to. Playing Hanzo, Doomfist really is scary. I pretty much avoid going through hallways and rooms. I pretty much dash away and wall-climb. I mean, he literally spells DOOM. He is sort of a legend I suppose, he should be scary, I defended his payload way to many times for him to be a let down.
How about being afraid of the enemy’s aim and not of the enemy’s ability to fire a big-a$$ CC in your direction and then finish off your stunned body? One requires skill, the other not so much.
Certain amount of CC makes this game Overwatch instead of a regular shooter. And thus are fine.
However, last new hero releases have introduced too much CC to the game in my opinion. We have had Doomfist, Brigitte, and now Hammond. All of these have CC abilities (all go thru shields btw) and make things very hard for the opposing player. I think its time to reel back CC abilities from new heroes. I would rather see new hitscan hero next or maybe introduce anti-CC abilities also. Currently we have only one that can help teammates: Zaryas bubble. CC abilities should maybe have their cooldowns increased…
I am afraid of the enemy’s aim. It’s freaking Terrifying to be at widows line of sight. But I’m also afraid of CC.
The difference between aim and CC, however, is that CC is consistent while aim can vary.
I do main tracer, which is scary when fighting against Brigitte or McCree. If I do one little mistake, then it’s over for me.
My opinion on CC is less about skill or effort but rather about the experience during the fight.
Nonetheless, the devs have to be cautious when dealing with CC. Too much CC in the game can ruin the gameplay experience for many players.
Nope. CC opens the opportunity for anti-CC, and with that you get to extend a game’s lifespan significantly.
Only a matter of time, especially with Hammond soon bouncing everybody around until we’ll see the first characters granting immunity to those effects. Just wait and see. It’s always the same.

Maybe a list of characthers with a CC hability could be useful !
- Healers : Brigitte, Ana (sleep), Lucio (boop)
- Tanks : Orisa (halt), Hog (hook), DVa (bump), Winston (Ult)
- DPS : Junkrat (almost all his skills), Phara (boop), DoomFist, Mc Cree (grenade), Mei (left clic + ult), Sombra (hack), Symm (turret’s slow)
So, it’s 11 characters out of 27 ^^’ (didn’t added Winston since it’s only his ult)
Yeah, that’s a lot but before DF and Brigitte, there was already 9 out of 25 !
[Edit : Forgot Symm’s turrets slow effect and RH ult)
Thats only characters, not abilities. Doomfist has 3 forms of CC, Brigitte has 2 so technically it is 5 new sources of CC.
yeah, if we get rid of CC, what will shine? Mobility. Tracer, Genji, Lucio, Winston, maybe paired with mercy and dva. I wonder what that would be like… oh wait!
no, but seriously - you need CC as a counter. and you can counter the CC meta with a ranged high damage comp (pharah junkrat orisa (immune to CC), mercy, zen, zarya/hog/dva. the brawl comps that rely on CC are pretty weak on range, people just a not patient enough to slowly win the battle but instead rush into CC-Comps and wonder why it feels bad to do so.
CC that allows some control of the hero I feel is okay, a slow for example but total shut downs like stuns I don’t like.
CC in itself isn’t a problem, it’s a good thing.
But it does become a problem when you get CC’d by different heroes every 7 or less seconds, then CC goes from a tactic and privilege to being the norm in a game. And that’s most likely one of the reasons why no one likes Overwatch anymore.
I just take Pharah. ¯\(ツ)/¯
Adding anti-CC does balance it out, which I totally agree.
However, my argument wasn’t that they should stop adding CC but rather that they should be cautious when adding more CC.
Yet if they find a way to balance CC, like with anti-CC, more CC can work.
Actually I think they should be either more creative and find better ways to slow people down or pull thee plug entirely before it becomes really silly.

I agree, if they need to hard lock people in order to balance this game then it seems like they are not tackling the real problems, only going for the quick fix.
To be fair, though, that’s not just Blizzard and Overwatch, although they do have the in-house history of WoW that demonstrates clearly what idiotic levels that CC circle can reach.

Forgot earthshatter, reinhardts swings have a soft CC on them, Roadhogs ult, any type of explosion has a small knockback including zarya’s right click and soldiers rockets, Graviton. The issue isnt around half the characters having CC its how viable and strong multi CC comps are and how little counter play is present in them.
Hah, I was going to complain about how bad it is to be kknocked around by Brigitte/Doomfist etc, but your post is so refreshingly reasonable, it made me actually reconsider. you make a good point! Thanks for sharing.
