D.Va as main tank?

I’m tired of hearing that D.Va cant main tank and that she has to go for Pharah considering the DPS being able to focus more on her than the tank pushing on the opponents. But id like to hear what your experiences are and thoughts as well, keep in mind, when i choose D.Va im more often than not the main tank

D.VA is one of the strongest tanks, but not quite sure if it’s a main tank.

D.Va isn’t a main tank.

Main tank is a fairly well defined role.

what defines a main tank then?

This definition might guide you.

“a main tank is the player in a party that concentrates on keeping the mobs attacking him and only him, while the other players pick them off.”

D.va is an off tank.
“An off tank (aka off-tank or offtank) is a player in a raid or party that concentrates on taking pressure off the main tank, usually by drawing off extra (usually weaker) mobs.”

Sure she can main tank along with a monkey for dive comps for example.

And sorry but anyone who says it’s the DVA’s responsibility to deal with the Pharah doesn’t understand this game. We have hitscan heroes for a reason and secondly, I’m sure people know this but dealing with a good pharmercy isn’t a one person job and is a team effort. Too many teams don’t realize this at mid elos and give a good pharmercy way too much respect until it’s too late and BAM, barrage all over your craniums!

Dva is better at dealing with Pharah than hitscan in most situations.

As is better map usage.

Playing Ball D.va Echo Tracer as your comp will pretty much render Pharah pointless. Add Zen in, discord is super strong with all the damage atm

Outside of that. If they have a pharmacy, there will be 4 on the ground, with 1 support… You can rush them as a 6. Pharah isn’t going to help much there.

i will have to absolutely disagree with you on this, also hitscans can render Pharah useless in most situations, and a lot faster

If you’ve got a got hitscan it can be very useful I agree.

But the reason Ball Dva Echo Tracer Brig Zen works, is that they are constantly rotating round the map, and removing people. Pharah doesn’t do alot to that. Both tanks and dps can do a lot of dmg to her, all she can do is try get to the supports, who’ll never been where she can get to safely.

You will see a lot more echo mercy than pharmercy is you meet better DPS players.

Another option, going of one of my points, is an old school rush comp. Rein D.Va Mei Reaper Lucio Bap(or Moira if aim isn’t great). Just rush the 4 on the ground. They either die or mercy leaves the Pharah to help, meaning dva can take her out.

Right!? I’ve had people have a go at me for not chasing after Pharah as D’va, it’s not D’vas job, sure I help shoot her, but I’d much rather deflect Reins firestrike or other abilities that are used against my team.

You don’t eat spam damage? Or pressure her away from your team? Interesting

(Also, going back to an old thread. I was right btw. OW2 beta coming with start of OWL. You shouldn’t doubt me lol)

Stop implying what he does in game based on one single comment.
Please

they are already solving that problem for you as there will be only one tank per team in ow2 .

No implying. Simply asking.

Based on times they’ve spoken about tanking I genuinely would like to sit down and discuss it and watch them play the role.

Not sure if they’d ever do it. Given the lack of maturity with the name calling, I’m not sure they’d be able to sensibly discuss the topic.

^ That is implying…

No that is a question. The ? is key there.

Implying wasn’t needed as your description of what you’d rather do was clear. Hence why I would be fascinated to talk tanking with you while watching how you play it.

I am always interested in seeing how people play the same role as me differently.

“Suggestive questions”

Falsely presents a presupposition in the question as accepted fact.

“Presupposition” - A thing tacitly assumed beforehand at the beginning of a line of argument or course of action.

Adding the word “Interesting…” at the end is making it an assumption.

You need to learn the difference between a normal question and a suggestive question. And we know it was a troll attempt to trigger me, but I’m just teaching you the difference so I shan’t react to that in an inappropriate manner.

you posed a question but phrased it in such a way that you were implying that his play is poor. based on very little information might I add. he didnt say he only eats fire strikes. he said that he prefers to do that. if youre going to imply anything from that it should be that he prefers to support his main tank instead of peeling.
that would be a reasonable question to ask.
asking completely unrelated questions that heavily imply he is making poor decisions is not.

Adding the word interesting, means I was interested by how you were explaining how you play tank.

I haven’t implied his play was poor. Merely just an interesting take on what he possibly should be doing.

Hence why I’d like to discuss with him and watch what he does. But as I said, I doubt he’d be up for that, as (and I will imply here…) his constant insults suggests he can’t do civil discussion with me.
