I had lvl 4. Ive been kicked out due to inactivity once. Immediately afterwards my endorsement lvl dropped to 3.
Will gaining lvl 4 again take the same time as if i had never achieved it? Or is there a chance i can get it back after a few more endorsements?

I dropped a level randomly and it took me a while to get it back.
If you don’t continue to recieve endorsements during matches or you leave the, you will go down to the lower lvl. I assume that when you leave the game, no endorsements during that game counts.
Gaining lvl 4 back will take less time than getting to lvl 4 in the first place though.
I have this constantly… I reached lvl 4 so many times but loose it even though I get endorsed in almost all matches. After falling it takes alot of matches to get it back. And getting lvl 5 is realiticaly only possible with the lfg system

Higher endorsement levels are for those who actively serve the community in a positive way during their games. It isn’t a collectable that you can get and keep forever. You should perceive it as a measurement of your contributions that can change between lower and higher levels anytime.
I have been level 4 since the system came out but yesterday dropped to level 3. However I know the reason and I’m not surprised: I was playing several days with mostly the same people. While playing with friends is a very good thing it results in less contributions to the community: I haven’t flexed for various teams and haven’t organised LFG groups for people. These things are reflected by my endorsement level which is OK.
This might seem to be a double edged sword (friends VS endorsement levels) but friends>levels for most people who have friends to play with. Not to mention that level 3 is very easy to reach (based on my experience on my alt accounts) and you need level 4 or 5 for literally nothing.
It’s like a milestone on a slanted road. You will roll back constantly, so if you want to stay ahead of a milestone, you need a bit of buffer.
Playing with friends: can’t be endorsed.
Playing via LFG: can only be endorsed once by every person in your group.
Playing solo-Q: will get endorsed depending on your effort (personally, I average 1 endorsement per loss and 4 endorsements per victory), which will be a lot better than the other options in the long run.
Ultimately, it’s not a system where you should try to exploit your way to the top, just do your best to be a good team mate and your level will rise eventually. Unless you play Mystery Heroes, cause apparently you can’t endorse people there.

Probably never getting fixed, lvl 4 with 3+ endorsements a match and still dropping even though I’m not leaving .-.
