Endorsement Question?

So I finally reached endorsement level 4, just to find out it had dropped down to 3 after winning a game on Route 66 as Widowmaker. It was probably the best game I had ever played as Widow, however the enemy team seemed a little upset and so they reported me. I understand why they reported me, as I hit some pretty nutty shots for someone in mid gold; however I do not understand why that must mean my endorsement level falls given how I’m innocent until proven guilty.
PS: - I had received many endorsements in games pria to said game and had received more at the end of that game. I made sure the game had finished before I left, and so I’m super confused as to why my endorsement level has fallen. Pls send help :frowning:

1 Endorses decay at the end of every game/match. Meaning that if you don’t get endorsed “constantly” it will lower.
2 Leaving games before they have ended or getting randomly reported (just reported not punished) will take some endorse away.
3 You didnt drop a full level you just went to level 3,80 or something but since its not 4 it shows 3.
4 Getting punished will set your endorse level to 1.

Imo yours just lowerd from not getting endorsed recently or someone randomly reported you.

Endorsement levels are meaningless anyway.

Not correct: being punished sets your level to 0, not 1.

I think its just 0 if you didn’t play after the update.
Might be wrong though, have yet to experience it.

I appreciate you taking the time to tell me this. It must have been the reports because, like I said, I had received endorsements in all the games before and the game I received the reports from.

For blzrd you are guilty until buying a new acc.
Remember that when you get banned. Endorsment drop is nothign compared to losing your 40 eu for no reason.

Wait, the report decay has yet to be confirmed!

Officially, punishments within the report system will strip you down to 0. It is nowhere stated that it will decay your endorsement lvl naturally.

Are you sure that you got endorsements in every match? The lvl is very finicky when you just lvl up. As wicked said, just being under 4 (3.99 or 3.8) is enough to get you a lvl down.

I usually only play on weekends, sometimes I go w/o playing for a few weeks. After I hit level 5 I have not dropped once & I don’t get endorsements after every game.

Has a natural decay been confirmed? Because it feels like it’s not happening to me.

I “confirmed” it but the topic was locked.

Just got level 3 if i if i remember right, next game i pissed of a 6 stack and lost it, they openly stated the report. I know that this isn’t legit, but its all i need.

We would need a lot more cases like this to prove it to be valid.

Also, we don’t know if the OTP got reported by all 6 players. If that wasn’t the case, then there is a contradiction in the OTP or the report decay argument… except…

What if when you get reported, the match won’t count the endorsements? This would explain why you can still go down in a game full of endorsements. But this theory has also little credibility because it lacks evidence, too.

Quick update: I found a source that explains the endorsement by a technical support:

In order to reach and maintain an endorsement lvl, you need to receive a specific amount of endorsements. These are the recommended amounts to maintain the endorsement lvl:

  • Players should earn one endorsement within two games played to reach and maintain level 2.
  • Players should earn one endorsement within every game played to reach and maintain level 3.
  • Players should earn two endorsements within every game played to reach and maintain level 4.
  • Players should earn three endorsements within every game played to reach and maintain level 5.

However,

You cannot lose endorsements for:

  • Being falsely reported by other players. A report itself will not trigger a loss of endorsement rating, only an account action issued by Blizzard will.
  • Electing to leave a Competitive Match by the option of forfeit when there is a leaver on your team for more than 2 minutes.
  • Not playing the game for an extended period of time.

So reports alone won’t decay your endorsement lvl. What happened most likely is that you didn’t get 2 endorsements every game to maintain lvl 4.

This creates a direct correlation to the mass report case: Your lvl didn’t decay because you got reported; Your lvl decayed because you didn’t receive enough endorsements.

Good to know.

Actually wrong, you have to reach a certain number of reports in a certain time to get suspended or banned. If I’m not mistaken your reports count reset every month.

So no, you’re not guilty until you buy a new account, just until you stop being a thrower/toxic player.

Re-reading my post I didn’t say anything wrong.
Although…

that’s wrong

and this is wrong as well, reports do decay but the penalty adds up everytime you get one untill you buy a new acc.

This whole sentence shows that you are not in touch with reality of what is happening in ow. But apart from that it is also very wrong. I have no problem explaining this to you though.
Here in the forums we have discussed many many times this topic. Basically, the coc is made in a way so that every automated report is justified, solely leaving the fate of their customers to eachother.
Sure it is not very nice of them but what could they do when they get millions of reports per day (think of a better system but ye).

Edit: Just re-read the whole thing and I’m not even sure we’re talking about the same thing, I wasn’t talking about the value of the reports for the customer service and that they are considered valid until an appeal is made. My point was that you’re not gonna get suspended again with less reports and that the “guilty” part will eventually fade if you stop being toxic as in the article " * Abusive chat reports will fall off after a predetermined amount of time.".

agane

I explaied why this is wrong.

Also, no I said that. You said they reset every month.

More likely, your teammates reported you before match even started. You see, they report you, then they endorse you(to get experience). It’s a common practice.

Again, I explained that we weren’t talking about the same thing. You say guilty as in the reports make you guilty forever but my point was that you weren’t considered guilty anymore after a certain period of time if you don’t get suspended, the reports just lose all value.

Yes someone said that, Account Silenced - Blizzard Support
They don’t outright give the period of time required for the reports to fall off but I’m like 90% sure I read a month somewhere.

Anyway, let’s agree to disagree.
