Endorsement, the bad side

So I’ve started to play Overwatch again after 6 months of break and i’m really enjoying it. The endorsement system is a really good feature and I like it, but I have one big negative side about it.

In one of my games I have lost power or had some technical issues with my router (i’m not sure anymore) but I couldn’t reconnect for few mins and my teammates left the game, we lost it and I lost endorsement level from 2 to 1 and there is nothing wrong with that because I’ve deserved it.

BUT today I had some new experience… This never happened to me before. I got disconnected for 1 second (i’m not sure if it was my internet or some in game trouble) and I’ve come back into the game after 15-30 seconds. That happened twice to me in two games in a row. And I didn’t notice anything in the first game but in the second I’ve lost my endorsement to level 1 because I was really close to getting promoted to third… So this really makes me mad because every game I’m staying positive and friendly in the voice chat and I always endorse other players who follow my path… But now after so much grinding and the time invested into the game with endorsements from other players is gone… Like it never happened… Luckily the people who I played with felt sorry for me and they all endorse me but still i’m on level one and nothing has really changed.

Now I don’t really expect from Blizzard to return those endorsements to me, but I want them to fix this issue. People lose their points for nothing and this can lead them to being toxic and less friendly.
Hopefully Blizzard will fix this problem and they will remove the points only at the end of the game or something like that, because like this it’s really not fair and I’m slowly losing my patience when I play with people who are less friendly with lower endorsement levels.

Please, even if you don’t want to use the search, at least please take a look at the first page of current threads… the exact same topic is open with replies on what happened: Endorsement loss for joining a game at last second? Well done! - #10 by Vierrna-2113

TLDR: Endorsements decay over time. It does NOT have to do ANYTHING with your matches. It just gets updated after matches and not inbetween or when you start up your game.

The endorsement system works exactly as intended:

MAINTAINING YOUR ENDORSEMENT LEVEL
Your endorsement level can decrease if you do not continue to receive endorsements or leave games before they’re finished. Punishments within the reporting system may also strip players of their endorsement level and place them at level 0.

Disconnecting does have an impact on your team, regardless of whether it was intentionally or accidentally.

If you read the description of the endorsement type “good teammate”, you’ll read “Helpful, effective communication”

By disconnecting, you basically made it your team harder to win the game.

You could counter the argument by claiming “I went back in 15 seconds or so”. However, it still has one problem: Was that disconnection intentional or accidental? The game can’t know it so it has to treat both of them like the same.

Also @AkumaTsubasa, those 2 threads aren’t the same thing. This one is talking about losing endorsements for disconnecting. The other one is talking about losing endorsements for joining a late game.

Always look at the details

create a new shortcut on your desktop with the command cmd.exe /k ping /t 185.60.112.157
that a blizz eu server
create another one to euro-ix dot net or your local internet exchange and a third one for your router
i’m on a long range wireless and on top of that i use a homeplug, so even if my ISP is ok one of the other two devices may freeze
so i have 3 pings always on, when something doesn’t feel right i always know instantly where the problem is so i can force a restart by unplugging the power
it won’t solve your problem but if it’s your ISP that’s acting up you can complain to them with proof…2-3 packets lost are enough to get disconnected
further explaining it…
if you have packet loss to your router, it’s you, either a software problem, a network card problem or router problem.
if you have packet loss only to blizz it’s blizzards problem or somewhere along the path to blizzard
if you have packet loss both to blizz and the euro-ix (this can be anything, the point is to pick a “neutral”, stable target) the problem is with your ISP
now this last one may still be a router problem if it locks on higher speeds than it should and then it disconnects but i still categorize it as “isp problem”, because they gave you the hardware
