Error 208 and 365 Day Cooldown

So today I wss getting error 208 after downloading the PS5 update. Everything went fine till I got the error.

I looked online and saw advice to unlink and relink your battlenet account and that worked for some folks. So I tried the same.

I accidentally linked the wrong account however and now its saying I have to wait 365 days to relink the original…seriously!?

I tried to make an alternate and link my original account there. No skins, unlocked characters or anything else. Absolutely gutted.

Unable to play Overwatch 2 because of an honest mistake? Losing hundreds of hours of progress and hundreds of bucks worth of skins and more isnt an option.

Everything was working fine yesterday. Took the day off work for this too.

I logged a ticket for help but it will be days till I get a response…

I didn’t encounter this problem since i unlinked my account and linked it back again several times. What platform are you using?

Playstation 5

Everything worked great yesterday. Today I saw an “Upgrade To PS5” version today. Downloaded that.

Logged in. Error 208. Looked online and saw someone say they fixed it by unlinking and re linking their account. So tried that.

I live in a multi user home so I accidentally linked my spouses PSN account to my Battlenet. They will not allow another change for 365 days according to the site and locked it in.

As a result I have lost access to the game entirely save under my wife, everything brand new on her account.

I seemingly lost everything from my game now and have no way to rectify it.

On Twitter I saw a reponse from Blizzard CS saying theres no way around it and you are basically locked out from your account for a whole year

That cant be right surely?!

On a side note someone suggested making a brand new battlenet account and linking to the proper PSN. While that got me back into the game it wiped absolutely everything from it. I played Overwatch back before 2011 and had almost everything unlocked so I am not keen on continuing if I am going to be missing everything.

Thats why I am writing here in the hopes someone can help.

If you linked your main BattleNet account to another PSN account then there’s nothing you can do except talking to support, If you linked two BattleNet accounts on the same PSN account then you can Relink your main account without problem.

Ask me anything if you need further info on this.

Support has a turnaround time of approx 12 days right now

But there are quite a few people in the same boat I am in. All multiaccount homes. You click on the wrong account and it overwrites the other and you are stuck for 365 days

Support has told them there’s absolutely nothing that can be done for them. An honest mistake has gotten them basically written off. Theres no way to amend the 365 day process they claim and since its Customer Support I dont disbelieve them

What I am asking for is there anyway to get around it.

Otherwise it looks like quite a few folks will walk away from the game if punishing them over an honest mistake results in losing everything this way

Thats an example

That’s tough, if they say there’s no way to undo this then there’s nothing to do, except if you can play with the account you accidentally linked your main account with and play with it.

Basically means starting from scratch, losing all the progress, unlocks, all the gold weapon skins and more.

This is the message we get now. It wont even let us change hers to another account…ugh

Seems all our progress and unlocks is tethered to the Battlenet account itself

CONNECT TO PLAYSTATION™NETWORK

Warning, there will be a 365 day cooldown before you can connect a new Playstation™Network account.

Next, we’ll send you to the Playstation™Network website. Log in to Playstation™Network to link your account with Battle.net services.

This is a problem that needs to be fixed and brought up to higher level issue. Because of this I have returned a copy of D4, and won’t be buying a PS5 because of my account locked out.

I think the 365 days lock out is on the playstation side and not blizzards.

Also please don’t necro old threads, it says so in the code of conduct.
