By now it shouldn’t be any news here in EU, that it’s always like rolling a dice to get a working server: if I’m routed through 137.221.65.26, I’m just going to have miserable time. If not, I can actually try and play.
Why is it like that, all the time? This crap started with the notorious “latency update” and it has since been like that. So my final question remains: Is there any way to prevent my games going through 137.221.65.26? Because it’s always just a waste of time.
No the issue is the same month after month. It is always either of the hops before server, only the IP changes from time to time.
Don’t have logs from past year, as I reinstalled Windows and with frustration to this ongoing issue I just deleted 'em. I’m not hoping this will ever get fixed, but it’s ok to remind about this from time to time.
I am a dummie who is lazy to track such things but it is 10-12 days straight i haven´t played a game without huge latency, lags and even micro DC (under 10 sec) where i don´t get kicked out of game but i see black screen or even map introduction. NOT FIXED. FYI I live in Prague and i play several more online games like Division where i dont have a problem.
Ok, let’s see the obvious again. All IP’s after 87.236.154.21 might’ve been changed (1ms from this puter to there) for privacy reasons: pastebin and 2SvYZquE
Ps. Loving this “can’t use links in post”. Took me a while to realize it was in the quoted text. gg forums.
What if we don’t make the customer work? This isn’t an issue that’s been solved, by far. You can just note your supervisor to check the above stats.
I’ve had 4 different ISP’s from Finland during OW’s life (beta to today), on 3 locations, and on 3 different puters. This current ISP has best routing to central Europe… yet still there’s the same problem with routing in Bliz network. Guess how fun it is to play CS or TF2 in French servers?
edit:
Just to remind about the issue. Here’s the last 3 servers:
e: This issue has made playing competitive very unpleasant. Immediately when I join the server, I can tell if I can play any driving role or just passive. If the latency stays at >55 when nothing is happening in the server it’s with 100% propability routed through 137.221.65.26 and I have to play some passive role and hope I don’t get to too many duels. If the latency is around 50 it’s routed through .29 and I can take any role the team needs.
The difference is very big really. In .29 servers I can be sure anything that happened was at my doing or fault. On .26 servers there’s too much of those wtf-moments, due to unstable connection.
Trying to route from Finland is a nightmare even when every speedtest said you have a great ping or no other network problems. I switch between 2 providers and both are failing to hold a stable connection. I’ve had latency problems for a year, but they always seem to get worse on Events (or am i paranoid lmao). I haven’t been playing for 2 weeks now, every time I try I get these huge random IND spikes that make the game completely unplayable.
After C-Lion1 it’s way better than before (through Sweden and Denmark). Now it’s straight line from Helsinki to Rostock (Germany). I am now routed through that, and the difference to Telia/DNA/Elisa is remarkable, because those 3 still used the old route the last time I checked.
That means I can play in central European servers on pretty much any game with <50ms ping now. Except OW, if I’m routed through that hidious .26 in their network.
Changed ISP. Like I’ve mentioned earlier in this topic, I’ve had 4 different ISP’s while playing OW. Telia, Elisa, DNA and this smaller local fibre company which I now have. I have no fond memories of them 3 big. DNA was ok, but Telia and Elisa were just crap.
Yeah the routing/connection is still as bad as it has always been.
But there’s a workaround: start OW, join any 6v6 game besides Comp and check the IP. If it’s on the “no we don’t wan’t you to play” IP range, just quit to desktop and start the game again. Start the game again, join a game (and yes, not to Comp yet) and check the IP. If it actually is playable: join a comp game.
In group scenarios, if some1 is routed through POS he/she or all of 'em needs to do the same. Eventually you’re all routed optimally and Comp is actually fun.
… but then again, why should the paid customer need to go through all of this, when it can easily be fixed from the providers side
