Exclusive Skins feel weirdly out of place for Overwatch

When Overwatch first announced that skins from their yearly events where not exclusive, but that they return every year for people who missed out to get, I was so happy. Sure, I had gotten every skin but this feeling of “I have them now for a year and people who join the game later on can still enjoy/get them next year” was very wholesome and a breath of fresh air.
The only stain on this record are those exclusive skins that do not return and I don’t get why not. Older Blizzcon skins could be purchaseable every Blizzcon for 10 Bucks or something. All-Star skins are such awesome skins, a lot of people want them, why not also offer older All-Star skins for OWL-Tokens when new ones are released? They would make more money that way for OWL. Kerrigan Widowmaker could be available as a drop around SC2 anniversary. So many cool ideas for mini events, that would get players into the game, earn Blizzard some money and keep the Overwatch mentality of “you missed out, don’t worry, skins will return”
Idk, they feel so out of place for Overwatch, I would love if other players would get a another chance to earn/buy these skins just like I did. Time limited exclusivity seems way more fair and fun.
What do you think about these exclusive skins? Should players who missed out be able to earn/buy them?

IDEA! They should add at least 1 exclusive skin in every event.

I agree, i have never liked miss-able content in games, with so many games out there and so many events for each one alongside life and work and other important things it is very easy for many to miss these events.

I understand the want to reward those players loyal to the game and missing a cosmetic isn’t the end of the world. I also understand that slapping on a price tag has it’s own hazards and negative connotations.

But money is something that can be earned, time is something people don’t get back, it sucks for a lot of people that miss out on these moments especially having to see others enjoy what they can’t anymore, artificial cosmetic scarcity feels so out of place.

I can’t see these one-time events boosting player count, at least not for very long and every time i feel like hoping back on again i see some missed skin i really want but was too distracted during the event or had unlucky timing and i just feel like i’m being punished for not playing the game constantly. Even though it is just a cosmetic I will admit that i have found myself playing less and less as more things slip past.

There are a lot of things at play here and perhaps the statistics proves that it is profitable to continue this way or there are other things i am missing, i don’t have all the information and i respect the decisions they make, after all i have had many great times thanks to this company and the fact i even got to play this game is something i am grateful for.

Just wanted to put my thoughts out there, thank you for reading.

its a stain for you, and a great value for others who were able to get hands on that exclusive stuff. Not essential for gameplay tho.
